TWTD Poker Tournament
TWTD Poker Tournament
Thursday, 26th Aug 2010 07:00

On Thursday at 8pm TWTD will be hosting its first No Limit Holdem poker tournament, following occasional guerrilla games organised through the TWTD Message Board. The game will be played as a private tournament at PokerStars, with all users of TWTD welcome. The entry cost for the tournament will be $11.

All players will need to register for an account at PokerStars prior to the start of the tournament. PokerStars provides play-money tables where users can get used to the software and develop their skills before venturing onto any of the vast array of real-money tables should they wish.

If successful the tournaments will continue with a range of buy-ins on a regular basis.

The intention is for the tournaments to be a friendly introduction to poker and other ITFC supporters allowing participants to display their poker skills whilst, if they wish, discussing the goings on at Portman Road.

You will need to register for the tournament prior to the event and it's open now. You must be 18 years old or over. Download the software, click 'Tourney', 'Private' and find 'TWTD Poker'. It is password protected and this week it is 'Scotland'.

If you have any questions regarding the tournament please send a private message to BOjK or for non-members use the Contact Us link at the foot of the page.

Its worth noting that PokerStars using Eastern Standard Time in the lobby, so the tournament is listed as '15:00' even though it starts at 20:00 UK time.

Cor! Imagine playing at the same table as the Town management team! A bloke with a bag over his head; a miserable, menacing Mick with his hands thrust into his pockets; and a nice-but-dim geezer in cravat and Hush Puppies, ready for the taking. Pass me the cards!

As mentioned in the forum thread I'm not surprised they want passport details as some countries have outlawed internet poker, or restricted some of the sites their citizens can play at. The UK haven't done this - but the site is almost certainly making sure you don't live in one of these countries.

Thinking further I checked my Stars account the other day to make sure I had $11 left in it to play in this tournament, and they had a field for my passport number which was blank. They've obviously started collecting this after I opened my account.

Hey....I play online poker as living and pokerstars is the main site I use. I can vouch that the site is 100% secure and the softwear is second to none.
A game just between ipswich supporters seems a great idea...see you at the tables and good luck!!

Just to add...not only can u hone yr skills at the play money tables but there are also freerolls...cost nothing to enter but can win cash. Infact at the moment it is possible to win a lamborghini gallardo without laying out a penny...you could be the best poker player in the world and you would still need ridiculous luck to overcome a huge playing field, but as they say...if u dont buy a ticket you cant win the raffle!

If there are any TWTD users who are serious poker players they might be interested to know that I organise a trip each year to the 'International Poker Open' in Dublin. The event is the largest in the world outside of the united states and attracted a record field of over 1,300 runners last year. This year the buy in is 200 Euros which gives players the oppotunity to experience a quality, fully dealer dealy tournament for the price of a satellite to many well respected tournaments. If anyone is interested it runs from 15th - 17th October and I have arranged for transport to leave from and return to Ipswich........ Send me a message for more information.

Whole bunch of blatant advertisers on here pretending to be Town supporters. Pull the other one friends! Town fans are far too sensible to fall for it. However I like a game. And am always to be found in the Cock and Bull in the town centre of a Thursday with a deck and an impenetrable gaze waiting for the gullible. Fifty quid blind and no spitting.

Poker sounds good. The IPO sounds a very good idea. Hope to be there Thursday night.
