Season Ticket Offer Boosts Crowd for Cardiff Clash
Season Ticket Offer Boosts Crowd for Cardiff Clash
Friday, 17th Sep 2010 10:02

Town are expecting a crowd of more than 21,000 when Cardiff City visit Portman Road tomorrow afternoon. The Blues are running a promotion in which season ticket holders can buy four additional seats at discounted prices.

Season ticket holders are able to purchase seats for friends and family at £10 for adults, £8 for seniors/students/under-20s and £3 for under-16s.

Full details are on the club site here.

Edit: Town have subsequently revised this estimate up to "close on 23,000", presumably as a direct result of our story.

We are 5th in the league, playing a team that are 2nd who always take thousands everywhere and we are only likely to manage 21k WITH a special offer on tickets.

Oh dear.

still sad that that crowd would fit in PR before the new stands

These moaners need to get behind the team instead of moaning about the crowd!

Considering the negativity that has surrounded the club over the last year it's no wonder the numbers are dropping. So many fans have been on the edge of their seats expecting an amazing new signing that it's no shock that a couple have fallen off. A few wins and the numbers will be back. We haven't really lost supporters just the numbers who regularly go to games due to disillusionment. A good start does help to bring people back and if we are in the top ten at Christmas then I imagine Hal season tickets wil be a popular gift.

Also consider when Lyall got us up we had crowds of 12-14,000 and decaying stands.

a little embarrassing to be honest

with a ticket offer and a large visiting crowd - surely we should be hitting 25k+??

I do not have a season ticket. Due to work I can not make a lot of Saturday games. I do not know any Season Ticket holders, to take advantage of this offer. Tuesday night it cost me over £50 inc petrol, parking. And look what was on offer !!! I am not alone here. The club should lower ticket prices, get more in the ground. It's been said before.

Itfc1981 that's what I always think when I hear the attendance I'm afraid after Tuesdays showing they should count themselves lucky who ever. Goes !

Huh 21.000. I thought 23.000 at least even hoping for more. Slightly disappointed here....

Its Keanes style of football which is putting most of my mates off, and the large ticket prices!

"playing a team that are 2nd who always take thousands everywhere" - I am not sure they do take thousands everywhere - certainly not usually to Portman Road anyway.

I reckon when all is said and done we will get close to the 23,000 not bad but not great,

Still regardless lets get behind the team and get into the top 2

UP THE TOWN!!!!

MarcusSg I'm sure you're right. For most of the last 2 seasons, home games were Russian Roulette. You didn't know if you would see a good game or a collapse. The low point for me was losing at home to Doncaster. But string a few wins together - especially at home and people will come.

maybe many town fans are fed up of paying the sort of money m.e charges on the gate..is expensive for the standard of football we watch...esp" expensive for the walk up on matchday fan...think price structure needs looking at from season tickets to matchday cash entry..dont think we are the only club suffering with lower crowds this

23k isn't really that bad. I remember in the late 90's we had 8k and still made more noise than we currently do. If you wanted to sing and jump about you went in the North Stand. If you did not fancy that you went in other parts of the ground. Far too many in the North these days who sit their quietly.

Lets hope they have more of these offers to boost attendances. Going to be a tough match but at least they won't have Chopra!

There was some talk on here after Tuesday nights game about the 'low' attendance considering who we were playing and our decent start to the season. By my reckoning the only team in our league with more than us was Leicester with 20,500. If you compare our average attendances with other teams, especially those who have a bigger population catchment, ours doesnt look too bad. Its even better than a few Premier clubs. Could and should be more but is probably a sign of the times generally.

As for noise it seems that lots of grounds are quieter with the away support, including ours, generating most of the atmosphere.

The annoying thing is, we all know when we get promoted, Crowds will be to capacity! Frustrating!

Totaly agree. Prawn sandwiches seem to be creeping into the Bobby Robson (North) stand nowadays.

I wish our attendances were as good as the Budgies
