Fülöp Claimed to Be Potential Manchester City Target
Fülöp Claimed to Be Potential Manchester City Target
Thursday, 7th Oct 2010 12:18

Town keeper Márton Fülöp is reported to be interesting his former loan club Manchester City. Fülöp, who joined the Blues from Sunderland for £750,000 in the summer, spent a brief emergency loan spell at Eastlands at the end of last season, making three appearances.

Now in a highly-speculative report the 27-year-old, who is currently away on international duty with Hungary, is claimed to be seen as a potential replacement for Shay Given if the Irishman moves on in January.

Fülöp is contracted to the Blues until the summer of 2012.

He moved to us to play FIRST TEAM football. No chance of losing him whatsoever.

Hopefully this does not materialise but it wouldn't suprise me one bit if the move was confirmed, not everyday Manchester City come along call your name is it, yes he wouldn't be playing week in week out but the fact is he'll be earning more money, something he may feel he cannot turn down, we shall see if the fact of earning more money is more important than pulling on a football shirt and actually being part of a team...

TheBlueStig: No its not every day, in fact 4 or 5 seasons ago you'd have seen it as an insult.
Can't see him wanting to go and be 2nd or 3rd choice somewhere when - as Blue92 points out - he moved to us for first team football, and from a Prem team too.

I think he's already proven that the fact of pulling a football shirt on is more important than the money,
Could have stayed at Sunderland or even moved abroad but chose first team football rather than the money...

Don't think we have any worries to be honest.....What i like to call a proper pro and wanting to play rather than get paid....

Maybe they'd want Priskin too - as they're "such good mates"

ME should hold Man City to ransom, if they offer 10M they can have him!

Crock added 13:24 - Oct 7
If they offer over 1,5M sell him.

I agree with comeonthegoodtimes he must have taken a drop in wages when leaving Sunderland so hopefully his priority is to play most weeks and be clearly visible to the Hungary coach. I'm sure one of the reasons he came to us was to increase his exposure and therfore increase his chances of becoming No.1 for Hungary especially now that Gabos has retired so now has only Kiraly to supercede

Hopefully this is just what is is...speculation. A great keeper and I certainly think that his presence in goal has brought the defence and team as a whole more confidence this year.

He's even amazing on FIFA 11. :)

This is possibly the most pathetic story i've ever heard. Did a GCSE work experience kid create this!?

No chance, whilst he is playing 1st team football on a regular basis whats the point in moving? Just to go and sit on the bench week in week out for City.

Do me a favour will ya,
Would exchange him for Given anyday......
Mmmmmmm sounds good, a guy that would probably cost about 30/40 thousand a week, does get injured or sorry has had a bad injury on his shoulder and would probably go if any attention came in from the big clubs,
Why oh why can't we be happy with what we've got,
Fuluop is a fine keeper and in my opinion one of the best in the division so we should be happy to keep him and not keep on about what we can exchange him for!!
Lets hope he never reads idiots on here saying they'd swop him at a drop of a hat.

Article says ''Highly speculative'' . Prob some lamo lazzy journalist generaring a story out of nothing.

Player previously beeing loaned to a club dosent equal the player moving to a club permanantly within the next 12 months, as some journos seem to constantly assume (shame really, othersise by 2012 we would have colback, livermore and townsend!)

Prev comments by Fulop re:1st team footy when he moved here also strongly sugest that he dosent want to be a citeh bench warmer ..

COYB !!!

Still if Fulup reads the claim it will only increase his form.

Well if there is any truth in it, I guess it''s down to Fulop himself & how well he has done for us since his arrival, I wouldn't want to see him leave, but money talks & every player has his price, any player these days can throw a wobbler about moving on to another club & then he gets his own way in the end, coz otherwise the parent club would start to loose value on their asset.
(JON WALTERS COMES TO MIND!)

However, Fulop strikes me as more genuine & sincere bloke & I don't think he would want to go back to a Prem club just to "warm the bench"
This story has come out now coz there is little news about due to the international break. Fulop's doing just fine at ITFC please let it remain that way!!

Second word of Town's response should be "off" - if there's even any reality in it.

Very good keeper, we need to retain him.

He'd be warming the bench and his bank manager's heart at Citeh
Obviously speculative, but in some ways it would be a nice problem to have. Last year it felt like we could not give our players away.

Well if this story is true then i would definately understand if he did move, the warming the bench scenario does come to mind but the positives for Fulop is money and we must not forget the potential for first team action in the premiership for the richest club with superstars busting out of the seams at city, if Hart was injured. I hope it is not true but if it is then surely there is some good money to make as Fulop is a very good goalkeeper. As long as there is no under handed actions to unsettle the player and try get him on the cheap (Walters comes to mind) then again if it is true then Town can and must hold out for some serious transfer money!
