Keane Targeting Premier Loanee
Keane Targeting Premier Loanee

Town boss Roy Keane says he could add a further loan signing to his squad tomorrow in time for Saturday’s home game with Coventry. The Blues manager has spoken to the player twice, having been given the green light by his Premier League side earlier in the week.

Keane said: “We’re in talks with a club and a player at the moment and we might have news on that tomorrow maybe, fingers crossed.

“We got the thumbs up [from the club] on Monday or Tuesday, I spoke to the player Tuesday and I’ve been in touch with him again today.

“But the player’s got options, then there are agents and finance involved, so it’s the usual scenario, which I understand. We’re hopeful. He’s a good player.”

Keane, who dismissed repeated links with West Brom’s Joe Mattock and says he already has good options at right-back, wouldn’t be drawn too far on the player’s identity: “He can play in defence but he can play in midfield as well. Good players usually can play in a few positions.”

I have no idea who it could be. Colback can't play in defence, can he?

Roy we need one if not two more strikers. Bloooocd keane has not become a great manager circumstances have dictated his actions this year. He wanted to keep stead but said he wasn't able to.

But bluechcik - would you not agree that circumstances have been influenced by the manager we have?!?!?! Would we have had the great start without the new players he has brought in and the old dross he got rid of? And even if losing stead wasn't what he wanted, then that shows he is a good manager to still be winning and getting us where we are without a full compliment of wanted and wished for players...

Strong suggestions that Ritchie de Laet from Manchester United is the player in question. Would add something to the team in my opinion.

Still think we need a right back and a striker.

Bluemurder, if you're right I'm going to cry! Ritchie de Laet is a good shout! Thought he had gone to Sheff U or was he just linked with a loan?

Richie De Laet is currently on loan at Sheff Utd. Doubt it will be him.

Do we not think that it could be Colback again!? I don't mean to keep harping on about it but Colback played left back for us a few times last year and obviously in midfield? Maybe Keano's throwing a bit of a curve ball in emphasising its a more defensive player to keep the attention off the little ginger genius!

Skysports.com understands a host of Championship clubs are hoping to lure loan star Ritchie de Laet away from Sheffield United.

De Laet's month-long loan spell at Bramall Lane is close to expiring and a number of sides are eagerly monitoring developments.

Think you'll find its proberbly him guys.

I also don't believe it will be Mattock as i get the impression Keano's hoping to push it through before the weekend with Saturdays game in mind - and i don't believe he's totally recovered from his current injury?

blooocd, calm down lad, keane's doing a good job, but he's not a great manager yet, there's along way to go yet, time will be the judge.

andyitfc, with respect do you really want gary neville or sol campbell playing in MIDFIELD?!?!? Good players at this level yes but not a chance of them being the players. I am also inclined to say it wont be De Laet because from what I've heard his loan is nearing it's end and hasn't finished therefore meaning he couldnt possibly sign tomorrow and would be unprofessional to even talk to him while still playing for Sheff Utd. I would also doubt it's Jonjo Shelvey since he's more of an Attacking midfielder rather than Defender/Midfielder.

I really dunno who it could be although if the player comes from Tottenham I fear it will be goodbye Mr Wickham.

If we are dreaming of a very good loan then what about Michael Johnson from Man City? He was amazing before they got rich and isn't getting a look in! Anyone know if he's available?

Please let it be a decent right back

bigfootblue no i don't I want Neville in midfield, I'd love to see him at RB which is our weakness, Peters is not up to the task as we saw against Leeds which nearly cost us, in all honesty I dont think it will be Neville (you can dream) but I so hope its a Right Back.

PS Johnson would be a great signing but we're really strong in central midfield I believe the signing will be a right back/midfielder I'm goin for either Chris Baird or Kyle Naughton
