Liverpool Watching Wickham at Watford
Liverpool Watching Wickham at Watford
Thursday, 21st Oct 2010 09:24

Liverpool are reported to have sent a scout to watch striker Connor Wickham in action for the Blues at Watford on Tuesday. The 17-year-old put in one of his best displays since returning from injury as Town lost 2-1 to the Hornets.

The Reds, who Wickham supported as a boy, were strongly linked with the Hereford-born youngster in the summer and all the bigger Premier League sides have been represented at Town matches this season, having been monitoring Wickham's progress since he was a schoolboy. Manchester United were amongst those to send a scout to watch Saturday’s game against Coventry.

Tottenham are understood to have made bids of up to £8 million during the summer, while Arsenal are also said to be very keen on the England U19 international, who signed a two-year deal with the Blues in March.

Elsewhere, former Town midfielder Liam Trotter continues to be linked with Sunderland. The 22-year-old joined Millwall for an undisclosed fee in the summer after rejecting contract at Portman Road and the Blues are understood to have negotiated a sell-on fee as part of that deal.

Ex-Town loanee Franny Jeffers has joined Australian side the Newcastle Jets on a 10-game guest contract having been unable to find a new club in the UK after his release by Sheffield Wednesday.

Wickham won't go - he'll fancy playing alongside Rooney in our new strike force.

Very tough one to call this. Before the start of the season I would have said no-way but with the obvious lack of firepower, absence of a right back, I would probably say sell and fill the gaps in the rest of the squad to push on for promotion this year or next.

Wickam will be a quality player one day but we desperately need another stirker who will bag 15+ goals this season along with Scotland NOW.

Surco72 - while you were reading my post you might actually like to read it again and see that i did actually say MY THOUGHTS, and as this is a free forum like i've been told on numourse occassions and everyone is entitiled to there say i sad it.

So before you get on your high horse about getting real and no way kean would listen to ME. read it properly first.

But then i forgot that you are a Jim Fan aren't you and there is no one better than Jim in your eyes and the club were wrong in getting rid of him because he left us in a great position didn't he?

As for QPR and Norwich not spending more than us this season? Are you sure on that one?
Priskin and MArtin were last years signings yes i agree and maybe a waste of money but then we all make mistakes don't we. Rafa (liverpool) - Kean, Ferguson(Man utd)- pick a Goalie of your choice, It's all about the recovery but then i guess you and all your anti Kean haters will never give the boss a fair crack so me writing this is probably a bit pointless unless i say

All hail King Jim, He's done well for himself managing......oh my mistake he got sacked for hitting one of his players didn't he.....grate guy he is.

comeonthegoodtimes - last comment sounded better in your head maybe? As you said, each to their own opinions. You mentioned a few points that someone else disagreed with. That person is then allowed to freely suggest any (possible) flaws in your argument or areas of dispute as well. If you don't like it when people disagree with you then I advise you not to post on news posts / forums.

Comeonthegoodtimes you need to take your own advice and read what i have said to you ,our spending over the last TWO seasons far outweighs the others .
And no i am not anti Keane or a Jim fan i am an Ipswich supporter who will give recognition to those who serve Ipswich well and it was time for Jim to leave but he did well for us as a player and on no money at the start as a manager ,where as Keane has had one of our lowest ever finishes as a manager and we are yet to see this year before we start heaping loads of praise on him IMO. And like you say this is a free forum and those are my views on your comments if you get yourself upset at people commenting on your views i suggest you dont write any , and as i am on my high horse you spelt GREAT wrong !

Rooney was offered a contract here but he turned it down as there were not enough prostitutes left!

Boom Boom

Sorry to offend anyone, but it was too good a gag to miss.

'Pool !! You know the score, and the price. £40 million. And we'll throw in an Ipswich pen since ye were good enough to knock Chelsea out of the Chumpions League long ago. Cheers!
