Mowbray New Boro Boss
Tuesday, 26th Oct 2010 12:57

Former Town skipper and coach Tony Mowbray has been named the new manager of Middlesbrough. Mowbray, who captained Boro during a 10-year spell at Ayresome Park as a player, will be assisted by his former Blues team-mate Mark Venus.

Middlesbrough have called a press conference for 3.30pm this afternoon where the 46-year-old, who was sacked by Celtic in March, will be unveiled.

Good choice !!!!!! but we do not want them to take over us in the league. So come on Keano and show us what a good motivator you are and get us up that league !!!! A win tonight and a win on sat. nothing less please ?????

Top man. Wasted up there though. Should be with us. That just leaves Curbishly and O'Neil.

A golden opportunity missed to get a decent manager in Mr Evans. So, when Keane goes that leaves Martin O'Neill, Alan Curbishley, Gordon Strachan, Gary Megson, Paul Ince, Phil Brown or Tony Loughlin gets a promotion. All would likely do a better job than the current incumbent !!!!

Good luck to him, but I was secretly hoping he would be Keane's replacement in January.

Sorry, just for a minute there I thought someone said that Gordon Strachan would do a better job than Roy Keane. If Town ever got that desperate it would be a sad day.

Sorry to disappoint you Whoppit, but I feel a good run coming on for Town so Keane is going nowhere!

Good luck to Tony Mowbray at Boro; he'll need it!

Good luck

Gordon Strachan, Gary Megson or Phil Brown!!!!!? Really Whoppit? You would have Gary Megson in charge of this football club!? I'd rather pull the trigger now.

Did I say that I wanted any of them to take over??? NO I DID NOT. I was simply listing who was available !!!!

Now that you mention it, All of them have pretty much more experience than Keane in the Premier League !!!! Except Tony.

Mogga did a great job at West Brom and likes to play decent football.
Could be a dark horse for a play off spot. Its also good to see Mark Venus back. It will good to see the two lads back at PR in April.

having already worked with half of them (ex celtic) he will get them playing well and quickly. Could be a late runner for play offs now! Mogga is a god in my eyes - absolute rock!!

I don't believe Mogga is as good a manager as what some others think he is. The team he inherited at West Brom was a team that had largely been built by Nigel Pearson, the week before Mowbray took over they put 5 past us at Portman Road. He then went to Celtic and did nothing, a number of players he fell out with at Celtic are now at Boro. I wouldn't want him here, if Keane was to go, which I believe he will in the New Year.

Interesting for people to say Mogga should be with us. Nope - his carrer is more linked to Boro than with us. Good luck to him. Good decision and I wish him all the best.

Great guy and wish him well! BUT he has achieved no more than Keano in football management and considerably less as a player - We would be no better with him at the helm.... COYB's
