Quartet Out of Hull Trip
Quartet Out of Hull Trip
Wednesday, 17th Nov 2010 13:55

Town boss Roy Keane has confirmed that Luke Hyam and Mark Kennedy will miss Saturday’s trip to Hull City with the hamstring injuries they sustained during the 3-1 defeat to Barnsley at the weekend. The Blues will also be without skipper David Norris and central defensive linchpin Gareth McAuley at the KC Stadium.

Keane told the club site: "Luke damaged his hamstring but the boy showed a good side to him by staying out on the park. We're going to be without him against Hull though and it's the same with Mark Kennedy.

"It looks like we will be missing Chuck and Gareth for that game as well, so things are going against us at the moment, but we have to get on with it."

Norris has an ankle problem, which he sustained in the Millwall match, while McAuley has achilles tendinitis, which needs rest and is likely to be out for a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, defender Damien Delaney, who spent six years at Hull, says the squad are determined to bounce back against his old club: "We were all disappointed after the Barnsley game but it's no good worrying about it, we have to do something about it.

"I had a sleepless night analysing the game, probably over-analysing it, but you start a new week and get on with it.

"In sport, like in life, you are going to have ups and downs. It's how you deal with the disappointments that count and for us, that means going to Hull and putting on a hell of a better display than we gave against Barnsley."

Bare bones, but you idiots will still be moaning and calling for the head of Keane if we lose with a bunch of kids and loan players out there.

Blueblood, how on earth can you be content with the football on offer at present, I don't get it

Totally agree tommyblue...Keane has been abysmal...fans like myself have a damn good reason not to be happy with the way things are,I expect a lot better especially considering the amount of money we're paying this bloke...some people have very low standards...a win saturday will merely be papering over a bloody big crack at ITFC.

I notice Keane/Clegg etc have been very quiet this week..is this farce finally nearing it's end?

Keane knew that over the course of the season players would pick up injuries etc but he still chose to let players leave. So, when we get thrashed out of sight in the next 3 games, it is all down to our clueless leader !!!!

Tbh blue blood, Hyam and Kennedy would not usually be in the first 11 anyway, and we shud have cover for a centre back and centre midfielder therefore the fact we are short of players good enough is keanes fault

KEANO OUT!!!!

He had to let players leave to get ( the overpaid ) off the wage bill and to get other players in who would be more disciplined in their responsibilities ( training and community work ) to the club and sponsors . It does not take an idiot to know that a side containing so many new players takes time to adjust and settle so let them ! Sir Bobby took more than 2 years to get us any real success and to be better off point and league position - wise at this stage of the season ( and in the quarter final of a cup ) has to be an improvement on last year !

meekreech - we are only in the quarter final of the cup because we had nobodies as opponents !! The last team are just about propping up the other 92 clubs and are about 55 places below us. We lucked out mate. If we had drawn anybody decent, we would have been out 2 rounds ago.

Hmmm...so i wonder what the starting eleven will be...peters and O connor at full back, Smith and Delany in the middle, wonder of Civelli will finally make an appearance...or are these player options too attacking for our club these days, god forbid we start playing a bit of football, getting the ball out wide, passing to each other....surprised our midfielders havent got neck muscles like Sylvester Stallone due to the amount of time they are watching the ball go flying over their heads!

meekreech, these are not good players, to be frank who gives a monkeys about community work! I dont think you will find Wright and Garven were on a lot.

Change of goalkeeper for Saturday. Brian Murphy will replace Fullop, which is good because the Hungerian has been somewhat off colour recently.

Its a poor league, not being negative but we've had exeter millwall crewe northampton in the cup, what's happend to 'the ipswich way' of playing football, roy keane does not suit ipswich and ipswich don't suit roy keane, I've been fairly patient until now and I've had enough and I think I'm talking for the majority of itfc fans, we need to speak up and be heard and save our club!

One of the nobodies beat Liverpool at Anfield ! We still have to beat other sides so I do not think WBA will be thinking they have an easy time to come on the 1st ! They will know they still have to beat us and with this type of match anything can happen ! Why do you have to be so negative about our club , your attitude is not reasoned ! You seem to think success is instant and a right whereas it has to be earned and does not come overnight , it takes time and has many ups and downs along the way so give yourself and us a break from your black thoughts and look forward with anticipation to the future . If we are in the top 6 , or about them , on Jan 1st we will make the play-offs , may not win them , but we will be there !

whoppit added 15:06 - Nov 17
Oh I knew you were going to bring that up?? So what?? By that reasoning you are saying that we beat Northampton who beat Liverpool which must mean we are better than Liverpool !!!!

Let's face it, we drew some dross in the cup and we are going to get found out against WBA.

And, carry on smoking what illegal substances you must be on !!!

Played nobody in the cup and you cannot judge improvement on something that Keane made so bad last season where we in the bottom three for majority of the season .Improvement should be measured against the side he inherited and his predeccessors Magilton and Royle ,that is why Jim was sacked due to no improvement from Royles time and Keane has certainly not improved anything from Jims time .Tick Tock .....

theres an expression in my trade. "the right tools for the right job" keane became a legend football player casue he slotted in nicely with the players around him. exactly the same when he became manager, he had the right players with the right mentality. but i dont think keane fits into the ipswich mold with his style tacdtics squad selection (flat back four, playing central mids out wide. anyone can see that thi is a case of square peg round hole, but keanes solutuion (and always has been) is to take a mallet to it, which may work at other clubs but not at this one.we need 4 or 5 players (full back and wingers) and a massive shake up (marcus need to reveal himself to hopefully boost morale around the stadium) and if we are to stick with keane we need to give him an expreianced assistant (to hopefully level him out and give him the round peg when hes using the mallet)

Blueblood, who do you think is responsible for putting together our current squad ?
If Keane had strengthened in other areas instead of signing a collection of midfield workhorses we might not be struggling so much.

dirtydingusmagee added 15:22 - Nov 17
Blueblood,Keane shipped out all the ''dead wood'',cant sign any quality players, plays kids with no experience and out of position, makes abysmal substitutions, yep i kinda think it is Keanes fault, even before we lose at Hull.Hope you are so chuffed having him at the helm ,if Canaries trounce us ,thats a probability, not a possibility.

Blueblood well said, I am indeed an idiot, for spending my hard earned cash travelling all over England watching my beloved team playing crap football. Thank you for pointing that out to me, what would I do without you in my life?
But then I'm not a multi-millionaire raking in £3.5m a season, doing a job I'm no good at, perhaps Keane should think of going into banking? I've said it before if being a great player ensured you'd be a great manager Sir Bobby Charlton would be England boss instead of Johnny Foreigner!!
Sorry but IMO Keane has failed and should go, please don't call the majority of us idiots for thinking that!!!!

I have supported the manager of the club I love and that I pay very good money to watch what I would hope would be entertaining positive football. However that is not the case and I am embarrassed the so called football I am exposing my children to. Keano's tactics are very hard to understand or explain for example playing one up front at home. He has had plenty of time to correct the so called deficiencies from when Jim was manager but has addressed very little. We no longer create anything through midfield and still don't have a decent attack. I'm sorry but it is now time for a change

Getting into the play-offs,getting promoted isn't what it's about now..it's gone beyond that..it should be about us playing exciting,attractive,free-flowing football week in week out..the way we used to do it under Sir Bobby,George and at times under Royle & Magilton.

I have no belief that this will ever be the way under the current regime..it hasn't been for 20 months, what makes anyone think it's going to improve?..i'm dissappointed that our owner and his right hand man can't see that..i'm convinced that he's going to hang on to Keane for the rest of the season rather than pay him off and just hope for the best.

Not the way to do it Marcus..Roy Keane's style of management & "style" of football is really destroying the club's reputation and splitting the fans rather than uniting them..why can't you & Clegg see that?

If O Dea makes it back unscathed we should have:
Fulop
Smith Delaney O Dea Eastman
Townsend Colbeck Leadbitter Edwards
Scotland Priskin

If O Dea doesnt make it, Smith will come in to centre with O'Connor at LB.
or Smith at LB with Eastman coming in to CB with Peters/ Brown at RB.
Healy could make an appearance at some stage with Wickham.
