Keane: It Had 0-0 Written All Over It
Keane: It Had 0-0 Written All Over It
Saturday, 20th Nov 2010 18:32

Boss Roy Keane felt the game at Hull had 0-0 written all over it until Robert Koren’s second half strike consigned his side to their third successive defeat.

Keane said: “It probably looked like it had 0-0 written all over it and when you go away from home you would accept that, so it’s another difficult one to take.

“I think the effort and all that was fine. I think we could have done with a little bit more composure on the final ball, which is vital to win any game, even in the last 20 minutes when it got a bit hectic.

“We had one or two opportunities in the first half when we were breaking, Jack had one or two half chances, and Jason. That’s where we came up short today.

“I've no problem with the effort or the commitment from the players, that’s fine. But you just need that little bit extra to win football matches, particularly away from home.”

The Blues boss thought Koren’s goal might have struck one of his players its way through and believed his side had a couple of decent penalty claims when Tommy Smith and Connor Wickham appeared to be pulled back: “I think the goal took a deflection and I think there was probably a foul before that.

“I’m certainly not happy with two penalty decisions which we felt ought to have gone our way but we’ve now got to focus on the next game, lick our wounds and look to bounce back.”

Town’s away fans were supportive of the Blues boss despite the loss and the controversy regarding Keane’s criticism of last week’s booing.

The Irishman was unhappy that his side couldn’t give them something to celebrate: “We’re disappointed for them because they’ve travelled up and we know they paid good money and once again we’ve come up short. Disappointed, but we always are when we don't get the right result for the fans.”

Keane confirmed that defender Tom Eastman sustained a groin injury and will be struggling for next week’s game at Norwich, while David Norris was icing his ankle but Keane was hopeful that his skipper will be OK for the trip to Carrow Road.

Tigers boss Nigel Pearson was pleased to get the win: "It was important to get three points. It wasn't an easy game to win with the way in which they set up. We had to work very hard for it and there weren't many chances.

"But it was a good three points and much deserved. It wasn't the most fluent of games, but when we've had three home defeats on the trot there is always going to be a little bit of anxiety around.

"However, I thought we always tried to do the right things and we played some decent football at times, although without being too penetrating.”

we may be 3 points off the play offs but thats if all the teams above us lose and we win. in reality we need probably 3 wins in a row and other results to go our way before we get back into the top 6 can anyone posting on here really see this team win 3 in a row with the present style and tactics ?. KEANE OUT ANYBODY IN

Why don't we all support the club and keep our negative thoughts to ourselves.

Keane out all the way!!! Bobble your right we do need to win at least 3 in a row to get back into a good postion. Can we do it? In my opinon no on recent evidence. If we do the un thinkable happens and we beat Norwich Keane will still remain manager and all the posts on here will say he is the best manager since sliced bread. Im going to carrot road next week expecting the worse. I don't believe in Roy Keane anymore. If we would of known that after 19 months this is where we would be with Roy keane there is no way we should of got rid of Jim. He was blue and white through & through.

Give us all an early Christmas present and get Rid of Keane.
He was always only going to be a name with limited ideas and is proving this to be the case.

If Ipswich are persisting with Roy Keane and are going nowhere fast, let the great events organiser Marcus Evans live with his falling attendances. You diss 20,000 fans who gave you the benefit of the doubt after last seasons shocking performance at you peril.

Could be irony. Jim got the phone call after beating Norwich. Deja Vu anyone?

I do believe Roy is a honest man but it is obvious he is finding managing a team a different proposition than playing he found it easy to dominate play and players on the field but from the sidelines a different task did he play any of his games with a draw would do from the kick off I think not so why now If this continues a taxi can not be far off

We are fortunate to be where we are in the league as this is down to the generally poor standard this year, which is a shame as a great opportunity to be in the play offs looks like going for a Burton with Beano in charge. The idea result would be Keane fired Monday and new manager already having been lined up (as happened when Jim was booted out) followed by a win over the scum.
The team is capable on paper of beating them, the Manager falls way short.
He must have the worst statistics for a Town Manager for years (if not ever) and I for one can't wait for him to be gone and a Manager with tactical ability and knowledge to turn the team back to playing attractive passing football.

Fear the game against Naaarwich and the cup game. I see us getting hammered at Carrot Rd and then again in the cup. A plum draw in the cup and our first real test, but I feel on the tactics that Keane plays we are in trouble.

rkeaneisgod, your name and your comments say it all. "I shouted We Love You Keano at the start of the game" - idiot. Going by your posts you know as much about football as Keane does managing. You dogged backing of Keane and all his errors is beyond belief. You are obviously a 12 year old Man U fan who follows Town because of RK or a scummer on here as windup merchant. You will soon be gone when your messiah is fired.

According to the League Managers Association website, John Beck is available : he would bring us the long-ball game (Like Keane) ; bully and de-motivate the players (Like Keane) ; have no tactical or strategic sense whatsoever (Like Keane) ; win 2 successive promotions and narrowly miss out on a 3rd (unlike Keane). Snap him up.

its been an awful last half dozen games and after the excitement of getting tickets for the scum next weekend i am slightly nervous. if ever there was a time to step up to the plate keano and deleiver then next sunday is the time, look at the 2 teams on paper.........(based on the players that featured this weekend)

01 Ruddy
02 R Martin
20 Barnett
22 Ward
07 Crofts
11 Surman/Hoolahan
15 Fox
19 Lappin
24 McNamee/Jackson
09 Holt
16 C Martin

01 Murphy
05 Delaney
20 Smith
23 Eastman
48 O'Dea
06 Leadbitter
07 Edwards
08 Norris/Wickham
14 Livermore/Peters
36 Colback
10 Scotland/Priskin

Goalkeepers - We definatley come out on top
Defenders - You would defiantley say our defenders are better, however ours provide no width.
Midfielders - SUPPOSEDLY our strongest position, on paper looks stronger but ours doesnt deliver, hoolahan = danger man.
Stikers - Holt is league 1 standard at best and should be easy to handle seeing as we have international centre halves, jackson is quick and a good finisher (something we dont have)

I think you would all agree in saying majority of our team is more recognised and all round better players, so why are we doing so badly at this moment.

I also feel it is very important we have Macauley fit for the derby, he has been our best player this season so far.

This sunday is going to be our turning point, im going for 3 -1 town and keane to play 4-4-2. likely? we can all dream.

Awful last half-dozen? We've lost 7 of the last 9.
Defeat by Norwich and West Brom and the game's up.
Trouble is, is there anyone who would likely come who is any good? And the first person to say Curbishley is crazier than Daleyitfc.

I think just looking at how many people have changed their opinion on this website tells you all you need to know.

A few weeks ago there were mostly positives, now its the other way round. I wished it were different, but Keane is starting to ruin this club. We are NOT making progress. I don't care what people say about the youngsters etc, and missing our better players in the last few weeks, we've just gone to a club who've scored just 5 goals at home in the league so far (6 now!). Playing one upfront just screams negativity. I'm genuinely, genuinely worried about this coming sunday. I'm fearing the worst but hoping for the best (which at the moment I'm feeling 0-0 would be a good result).

I've never said something like that before, hoping we can just claw out a 0-0 at Carrot Road, but it feels like where we're going at the moment.

Keane out and COYB, please do us proud next sunday at least.

come on lets face it we are now a rubbish side with a manger and players with no football brain (yes you do need one) no idea about how to take corners, free kicks, get behind the last defender, crossing from wide positions etc etc basic football played on the park pitch on a sat and sun.

I have supported Keane hoping it would work for him and Town and especially after a good start to the season, i apologise whole-heartedly to the fans i tried to argue with in defence of Keane. I have read some one write that "John Lyall turned Duncans useless squad into a title winning side" and for me this is a very important point, we have a very unbalanced squad full of loanees and what now looks like a team that has been found out and needs tactical leadership from its manager . We have got a f.....g c..t who for me is sooooo bad at management that i think he is doing this on purpose and Evans needs to act very quickly and maybe the Lyall scenario could work again BECAUSE one thing i do know is that if we stick with this Irish C..k s.....r we will end up in a relegation fight very soon and the only thing that will keep us up, is that there are some very poor teams in the championship but with the team selections i am seeing this is making me very angry, if our team played to its strengths but where generally beaten by a better side i would applaud in a sporting manner and support my team ever more to improve! but this really is not the case we have a manager who is tactically suicidal, plays one up front and the striker is a midget, plays 4 central defenders with only one striker(midget) is utter madness, plays 4 central midfielders with no width is just complete idiocy in any ones book.
I WILL BE BOOING NEXT MATCH AND IF I GET A CHANCE I WILL SHOUT AT KEANE AND TELL THE C..T TO F.....F BECAUSE I LOVE MY CLUB AND MUST HELP REMOVE THE DEADWOOD AS HE ONCE DID!!"!

I have decided that it is no longer worth posting on here with all the negative rubbish ( saying Keane out etc. ) coming from so called ITFC supporters ! Until you start living in the present and not in the past ( the football world has changed and we have not kept pace ) with dreams of winning everything with pretty football . We have been playing pretty football until RK came in and it had got us nowhere for 10 ( ? ) years . Now we have an owner and manager trying to bring us forward they are being run down because at the moment the players are still adapting , to the new requirements of the new order , and as such the supporters should start to live in the real world not in their dreamland ! I want Town to be successful again but after so many years of neglect ( in adapting to the real football world ) we cannot expect to do it in less than 3 - 4 years and I am prepared to wait for the younger players to bring us through !

Many posters on here should be embarrassed of yourselves. I bet your the ones who wanted royal out burley out and Jim. Now it's keano. Roy is right Suffolk people are a bunch of non go getters and moaners and yes I am born and bread here! Get a grip and back your team and whoever the manager is, we can make a difference if we have the desire and start to support this great club.

barhamblue, you need to wake up and smell the coffee!, you just dont get it! people write what they do because their passionate about the club and can`t stand to see it taken apart like it is by this regime. its not going to change either untill keane and all the crap hes installed are out of this club, it will take years to repair the damage he`s done, i really am not looking forward to next sunday, we need a miracle! would`nt be surprised if we get thumped, and that should really be that for keane if not R.I.P IPSWICH TOWN.
