Reid: Fallon Fee Agreed
Reid: Fallon Fee Agreed
Friday, 26th Nov 2010 08:11

Plymouth boss Peter Reid says Town and Argyle have agreed a fee for striker Rory Fallon’s permanent move to the Blues if the New Zealand international impresses during his period on loan at Portman Road. The 28-year-old’s initial spell runs until January 22nd.

Reid says a deal is done if Fallon proves himself: "I think there is a fee agreed, but [Plymouth executive director] Keith Todd has been dealing with that.”

The former England international midfielder says that while Fallon was not a fans’ favourite at Home Park, he was playing with an injury earlier in the season: "Roy Keane got in touch with me asking about the boy with a view to a permanent transfer.

"Rory is out-of-contract in the summer and sometimes certain circumstances dictate what happens at a football club. This is one of those times.

"I know he's not everyone's cup of tea when it comes to the fans, but he was fighting through a hernia for us at the start of the season.

"This is a chance for him to have a fresh lease of life, and if he does well it's great for him, great for us and great for Ipswich."

Fallon underwent hernia surgery in September and was out for around a month but has still managed to make nine starts and seven sub appearances this season, scoring once.

Elsewhere, Manchester City youngster John Guidetti has joined Burnley on loan. The Blues were amongst a host of Championship clubs linked with the 18-year-old Swede.

Norwich boss Paul Lambert will watch Sunday’s derby from the stands after being handed a two-match touchline ban and £2,500 fine by the FA yesterday. The Scot had pleaded guilty to a charge of improper conduct relating to his language and behaviour towards match officials following Norwich's recent 3-3 draw with Reading.

Sorry but this time Keano has really lost it. League one Plymouth's worst player. If this proves a good signing I'll bare my arse on the town hall steps

This welcomes in a new exciting era into Ipswich Football Club.
At last we have the long ball target man we have all been wanting, and have signed a right back that so many of you asked for. This bodes very well for us. Fallon could prove the perfect player for us this season and we could once again enter the promotion chase. Fallon will feed very well off our long ball.
Well done on Roy Keane for such astute signings!
Norwich will not know what has hit them on Sunday!

Don't expect the fee to be any more than £300'000. But then going on how much we paid out for Lee Martin and Priskin the fee is probably 7 figures! Hope it works out for you Rory, good luck and sure you will soon become a hero if you notch the winner on sunday!

Welcome Rory and good luck fella. I hope you can get over the injury problems you've had at Plymouth.

Sounds like Plymouth fans have plenty in common with some town fans....a lack of patience and willingness to get on players backs if they have a poor game or two.

Id love to see Fallon score the winner on Sunday to shut you moaners up!
Give the poor bloke a chance FFS!!
Where the hell did we get all these grumpy moaning fans from?
Ten+ years ago we had decent fans who got behind the team and manager and stuck together, now we have a load of fickle fans who like nothing better than to be negative about everything concerned about ITFC, be it the manager, Owner, tactics, players, signing..blah blah blah!
Tell ya what, Get yoursleves to carrot road on sunday and sit in the barclay stand along with the other freaks as this club needs all the positive support it can get at the moment and not prats running everything down!

The moaners wanted RK to look at and get lower division players , now he has they are still moaning !!! It is surely time they shut up and did what they say they do and that is support the TOWN !!!! The guy is an international so is not a numpty , he is going to provide something new with his play and experience , so will make the competition for places more intense with , hopefully , a lot better results . Do not write him off just because some of the Plymouth fans are related to ( twins of ) some of our moaners !

Bournemouth have an ageing target man (Steve Fletcher) who scores few goals these days. As a target man he is invaluable and has, this season, been responsible for setting up numerous chances. Result is that Bournemouth are top scorers in League 1! Before you say this is a league higher the same principal applies. Let's not judge until we've seen him!

Good luck rory, came through englands youth teams so must have had potential! Looking at Plymouth blog he appears to have been a bit of a scapegoat so maybe needs the confidence of a fresh start. Slight concern is the general feel was he is a ball at the feet player and doesn't favour long ball tactics!!!! As for blaiming keane for stead believe it was the board who said he had to go to enable us to bring in Scotland due to high salary. I for one look forward to cheating u on in a town shirt, let's hope those so called fans ate not on your back too quickly!!!

First 4 comments positive, 5th one goes slightly negative.. and then the 6th it's a negative.

Well done, commenters of TWTD! Give yourselves a pat on the back.

As a supporter of THE TEAM, I'm hoping that Fallon does well for us and ends up a good loan / permanent signing. If he can influence the game up the other end of the pitch, even if he's not scoring 20 a season, it can still only bring some of the positivity into our play that so many moaners plead for!

Morrison from Millwall would be a quality addition come January. He wins everything in the air and can find the net. Also plays with his heart on his sleeve very much in the mould of Jon Walters first season as Town.
Also feel we could do with a midfield playmaker ... see that Hoolahan cant get a game at Norwich ...
Is Civelli any closer to his long awaited first team return yet ??

Good luck to him,i hope he gets off to a flyer ,a hatrick against the canaries would make him a legend on his first day.Think we will need something special this weekend.......i had a dream, we were losing 4-0 at half time, then there was a blizzard and match was abandoned ,...what a shame .

How much is the going rate for an injury prone , non-scoring striker playing in a League 1 reserve team who is out of contract in the summer ?

Surely we are talking pence right ?

Legend - Although I agree with you to some extent, in all fairness supporters have been hugely let down since Evans took control. It hasnt really turned out how any of us wanted or expected it to since Magilton/Keane was given good financial support to build a team to get us in the premier league! And when you watch clubs like Blackpool make it with next to no money and again this season looks although at best a mid-table finsh i can understand fans frustration. Sadly, i cant see things getting better until Keane departs...hope i am proved wrong, but somehow doubt it!
