Keane: Poor Decision-Making Let Us Down Sunday, 28th Nov 2010 16:29
Town boss felt his team was made to pay for poor decision making after the 4-1 defeat to Norwich City at Carrow Road. Keane refused to criticise referee Keith Hill for Grant Holt’s controversial first goal or Damien Delaney’s red card just before half-time.
Keane said: “Poor decision-making and giving teams a helping hand has cost us. It was a long second half and it was very hard for us to get back into it. We took a bit of a gamble in the last 15 or 20 minutes and we opened the door to conceding more goals.
“It doesn’t matter what I think about the sending off. Let’s not waste our time and energy talking about whether there was cover, whether he actually pulled him back, the ball should have been cleared, simple as that. Same for the first goal.
“I’m not going to sit here and question the officials, there’s been enough of that over the last few weeks from other managers and other countries.”
The Blues boss felt his players made it difficult for themselves: “In any game of football, whether you’re a professional or an amateur, you’ve got to do the basics right and we didn’t do that today, whether that’s for the first couple of goals or the sending off. You make it very hard for yourself.
“At 2-1, even though we’d gifted two goals away, I think we were very much in the game. It was pretty open, they were causing us problems, but I thought we’d be OK. But then there was the sending off not long before half-time.
“We’re not good enough to be giving away goals like that and to be playing with 10 men. We’ve not won the last few games with 11.
“With 10 it wasn’t impossible because at 2-1 we were keeping it tight and trying to nick something on the break or from a set piece, but it wasn’t to be.”
Keane admits that he’s under pressure after four successive defeat and with the Blues having dropped to 16th but says it comes with the territory: “When you lose matches, it creates pressure but that comes with the job. You know that when you come into it and you’ve got to deal with it.”
Norwich manager Paul Lambert was delighted with Canaries hat-trick hero Grant Holt: “I thought Grant was unplayable at times. I thought him and Chris Martin were a handful right from the off and when those two play the way they can do, we’ve always got a chance.”

just returned from the game , bad schoolboy errors gave Norwich 2 goals whatever happened to if in doubt kick it out ! We need to find the answers to questions , are the players tactically inept or just poorly prepared ? Do they really want to play with pride for this club or not ? Is it them or the managers inability to get the players to perform ? Whilst we are grateful for Marcus and his millions that saved us , does he have the fight in him ? Can Simon Clegg attract / negiotiate the right deal to get the players we need .We at this club are loyal supporters , we normally treat players, managers and directors with the utmost respect but time is running out .We the supporters have continued to follow the club passionately and have been consistently patient watching the dross that is being dished up .Enough is Enough , time is up ! Mr Evans please gather your team together i,m certain you are used to getting good performances so start applying your business rules to the football club and if the team starting at the top cannot perform then please remove them and get someone who can the sooner the better . You will then get results you need to get us back in the premiership you get your investment back , happy supporters ,everyone wins . After 40 years of being a supporter home and away i have never witnessed such a poor dislay in a Derby .Roy has had his chances in my view and i still think he is an honourable man but he will not get us promoted this year therefore after his initial promises will be in breach of contract maybe not with you but we the supporters .Please therefore as he is so wealthy ask him to leave immediantely without compesation he owes this to you and us. Supporters lets back our team on wednesday but unless there is a massive turnaround in fortune , make sure we really know how we feel and stand .

I Think that after today`s decidedly lack lustre performance by all concerned,(norris apart) that this club is in a poor state. I`ll let you decide who is to blame, i`m not so sure that all of said blame can be laid at Keanes door.

Yes! I'm getting this wonderful feeling that Keane recognises his failure. He knows that he was a great player. He now knows that management is not for him. I am so happy to see him moving to a HAPPY life unencumbered by the complication of developing a GREAT football team. I foresee a 5 day decision point giving ALL of us such great pleasure. Or of course we can drag on in misery?

Lost 8 out of 11 and Keane blames the players..., they're YOUR players! You've spent 18 months and £millions 'building' this 'team' and it's a shambles. So Keane says he thought at 2 - 1 down in our most important game of the season 'I thought we'd be OK...' ??? He moves on David Wright, a former player of the season who could play both full back spots, says 'We don't need a right back', then brings in the ring rusty Zuiverloon who didn't know where he was (see 2nd goal, awful passing, lost most 50/50's, one good tackle last ditch tackle 1st half, but after his mistake...) Keane, you are clueless, this is YOUR team, YOUR players. How is this 'OK'?? I'm pulling my hair out, you just chew gum and say it's 'ok'. You might be 'ok' even when you are sacked, you've got your £millions, you'll be ok but my club is not 'ok' in your hands..., Not good enough, GOTTA GO NOW. Keaneish and WarkyWonderland have got it spot-on, Curbs and Holland is the dream ticket. Unlike Keane, 1 is a proper manager. Unlike Keane, 1 cares passionately about the club and fans. DenhamBlue, check your facts on Curbs, took Charlton from 3rd tier football and being bankrupt to Prem stability, yes it took time, but they'd been no-where for decades, and look where they are post-Curbs, no-where again. He took West Ham off the foot of the Prem and had them mid-table until the board started selling players behind his back. He saved them from relegation. Look where they are post-Curbs..., bottom. He's a decent, proper manager. He had an enforced break due to contract issues/gardening leave while his constructive dismissal case vs West Ham was in the courts, which he won. Perfect man for the job. Never sacked. Establishes clubs our size in the Prem. Isn't that what we want????

Keanish if Curbs was that good he would have bagged himself a job by now!! The comments are not way off about Evans! This club has gone downhill ever since he came here and installed his bitch Clegg by his side. If he has any guts, show his face and address the fans for once or sell the club to somebody who does not hide and has ambition! And cares about the fans! Would you honestly put your faith into the comedy act of Clegg and Evans to find us a quality manager? They would bring in Bryan Robson next!!

Legend, you are deluded pal! That 'years and years'' to get Charlton into the premier league was about 8 years and about 4 of them was joint manager. Added to that he took them from the 3rd tier of English football to a regular top 10 premier side. This Ruining West Ham you talk about is when he took the over when they were bottom in December and became the first team to stay up despite being bottom at Xmas? Or maybe you're talking about the season after when he took them to their highest ever premier league finish? I actually did agree with Keane when he said some of our fans are idiots!

Oh, and Grant Holt is an absolute disgrace.
Martus added 20:54 - Nov 28
When the players step on the pitch Keane has no contol, so when O'Dea and Delaney didnt clear it properly (from some very good play form Holt) its just individual error which ended the very open game. So this game was down to individual errors. However, what the hell was Keane doing with the defence? 4 changes to defence during the game. Healy and Colback were are fullbacks at one point. Why wasnt O'Connor brought on when Delaney got sent off. Play 3 CM's in Leadbitter, Norris and Colback, and allow Zullizon or whatever his name is and O'Connor to add with by running down the wings? This is why Ipswich have just got promoted on Football manager 2011, because of tatical prowess. Oi keane, take note yeah?

That was embarrassing. In addition to the bad defensive errors we looked disorganised and couldn't get a good passing game going (even with 11 men). Why not give the man in possession a couple of easy options to pass to instead of over reliance on those hopeful low success ratio long balls into the channels. It's basic football and we don't seem capable of doing it any more. Some say that Norwich weren't that good They were certainly up for it more than we were though.

Perhaps you should consider Curbs doesn't just want a job but wants the right job and being a wealthy man is probably in no hurry to find work. Town is perfect for Curbs. And Legend, sorry, but you're talking nonsense wanting to get rid of Evan's. If Clegg can't close deals for Evan's money then maybe Clegg, but not Evan's. I can't believe your memory is that short to fail to remember the financial mess we were in several years back struggling to find any investment at all let alone all of it from one source who's actually a town fan. Pretty sure there was a majority vote from shareholders on this of about 98% as well clearing 30 odd million quids worth of debt from our books and onto his! Think there's a good indication of his intentions! Think we'd all be happier if he didn't have an 80 something percent controlling interest in the club but for that kind of investment, plus 12 million for players...what do you expect!?

My god what a shambles. After over 40 years supporting ITFC man & boy, I really don't know what the answer is. You look at teams like Blackpool, and yes even Norwich, (tho' it really hurts to say it) who have had no money, yet can put together good competitive teams. The last two Irish men in charge of my team (yes it's my team not theirs, I'll still be here long after they've gone) have spent what £20m maybe more, & we're worse than the team Joe Royle left behind when he had not a cent, and was forced to sell everyone with an ounce of talent. The nice family club with the Cobbolds in charge, & even Sheepshanks who's related to the Cobbolds, has long gone. Marcus Evans has no affinity to the club, probably not even to football & I bet he wishes he hadn't got involved. I expect he thought all he had to do was wave his cheque book, get a big name in as manager and Premier league with all its wealth and publicity would follow. He's found out that it needs more than that - it needs to be in the blood.

Pathetic. Humiliated on TV throughout the world. Tactically incompetent (Delaney at rightback???) Disgrace Norwich had a field day. Lets look forward to the battle against relegation. Keane OUT!!!! But he won't.......

If we assume that we need 45 points to be safe, could someone please tell me where we are going to get the 21 we need to get there? Love the FORK thing. Can anyone think of a way of using it on Wednesday, and Saturday (and at all home games until we get what we want)?

Apart from the first month of the season we have been bad for a couple of years now but we aree now in steep decline and getting worse. Keane seems unable to change this. He must be replaced now before the club is ripped apart. If he stays then relegation is very likely and all our players will want ou and disillusioned fans will stop going. The club may never recover from that. KEANE OUT! FORK!!!
Keaneish added 21:37 - Nov 28
Throw plastic FORKs at Keane Wednesday? Just an idea! Just read Evan's is actually a Chelsea Fan contradictory to my post saying he was a Town fan. Does anyone know if he is a Chelsea fan? Interesting one for the cup!

No matter about today and what we all think of RK the players have alot to do with it as well, they did not even have a go!!!! Shocking! Oh well! Keep going lads and Rk. I am a Rk beleaver, but after today I do beleave he has only 1 or 2 games left at town.
WarkyWonderLand added 21:45 - Nov 28
If this was another club with what happened last season and how this has deteriorated this season I am sure that the clubs management would say enough is enough. Thanks but its not working move on. I have said before at least Strachan left Middlesborough with some dignity. Its laughable to read RK's quote about the fans forgiving them for bad run if we win derby!! How were we going to ever win bringing on Colin Healy, Alan Lee (oops sorry forgot is Rory Fallon) and Troy Brown. Is that what Keane means by gambling? To watch him and McLaughlin is painful cos I don't know which chicken is worse!! For the sake of our club ME act now otherwise or knows where we will end up. For those who continued to suport RK up til today, surely they can now see that he is not up to the job and it has to change.
