Fülöp a Doubt for West Brom Quarter-Final Monday, 29th Nov 2010 16:03
Keeper Márton Fülöp as emerged as a new injury doubt ahead of Wednesday’s Carling Cup quarter-final against West Brom. The Hungarian international suffered an ankle injury in the weekend defeat at Norwich.
Manager Roy Keane told the club site that the former Sunderland man’s fitness will become clearer on Tuesday: "Márton is a concern. We will know more tomorrow."
Fülöp is yet to play in the Carling Cup for Town with Brian Murphy having been in goal for the games at Exeter, Crewe, Millwall and at home to Northampton.
Already on the sidelines with injury are Gareth McAuley (achilles), Luke Hyam (hamstring), Connor Wickham (thigh), Tom Eastman (groin) and Mark Kennedy (hamstring), while loanees Gianni Zuiverloon, Jack Colback, Jake Livermore and Rory Fallon are unavailable having played for their parent clubs in the competition already this season.
Meanwhile, the Blues have confirmed that they will not be appealing against Damien Delaney’s red card at Norwich. The Irishman will serve his one-match ban on Wednesday.

Adam no im sorry you have got that team totally wrong. You have missed the cleaner, surely armed with a broom he/she will make far better goalkeeper, or will at least be able to use the broom to remove the ball from the net rather than getting back ache from bending over so many times? Roy Keane clearly need to be playing as he can take out a number of WB's players leaving us a better chance? and you have forgotten the legend that is Finidi George? Surely with his goalscroring powress you should have him on the pitch as a centre back? Tamas is far too creative to be in the team im afraid, he may just make a run from the defence and that really would never ever do would it? WB may think we are making an attack and that really would be against the whole ethos of play surely?

Murphy Peters O' Dea Smith O' Connor Edwards Leadbitter Norris Townsend Scotland Priskin We are in massive trouble at the back!!!!! If we go with this team at least we could have overlapping full backs and have some pace out wide. Better chance to break quickly, get balls in to box and create chances for front two. Pity Wickham is unavailable, his height and strength would be more suitable for getting on the end of crosses. Leadbitter & Norris will likely have to sit in midfield to help protect the defense.

@alfromcol: Thanks for your comment. At least this season Fulop has- from what I have seen - some problems regarding high balls in the box. He is a decent keeper but I think you could have a keeper of the same quality for less money. Just my opinion.

Murphy is a quality keeper too. Not the tallest but agile, good shot stopper and good hands. He also has a huge kick out, I think he got x2 assists last season! If West Brom push too far forward, a big kick out or quick break could work in our favour. And he was a free transfer from Ireland!

The only doubt I want to hear about is Roy Keane being Manager by the weekend! A few players turned up on Sunday to the rest it was 'just another game' but the defensive errors, Delaneys red card and the totally inept substitutions by Keane cost us. With the injuries and bans that we have, we shall certainly see a change of players. As it is the quarter finals I will be surprised if WBA decide to play mainly reserves but if they do I unfortunately don't see it making a difference and we shall be able to concentrate on the league (as it would need a miracle to overcome Chelsea in the FA Cup). Bring back Richard Wright.......Again!!

Is this just cover so that we win. Let WBA fall into a false sense of security thinking we are rubbish and we play out of our skins..... I just hope the defence talk to each other and we may actually clear a ball.

Dorsetblue let WBA fall into a falst sense of security, nothing false about it im afraid on current form we are just that rubbish!!

As i see it the problem we now have is that we have to many left sided players(defenders)When Delaney was sent off he moved Odea to partner Smith and moved Colback to left back that didnt work so he then brought Brown on to partner Smith, Brown being right sided .So me think the back four will be Peters, Brown,Smith Odea( to give some height to an otherwise small defence). The rest picks its self

You cant blame Keane for the defencive errors on paper we had a decent team out on the pitch. We all said what a loss Delaney was when he got injured last season so he can be a donkey overnight. Why did Delaney stand a yard in front of Holt and Why did the full backs sit so deep to play him on side, school boy stuff really. To be fair were starting to put the Norwich defence under pressure and getting more in to the game before the sending off (However I still felt we would lose as the defence was very shakey). Healy i felt looked a better player than most on the pitch and showed some nice touches for a player who has hardly played for the club in the last 2 years. With Keane some of the decisions baffled me, why did we put Edwards at right back? why not put Peters on instead of Healy, Like I said Keane cannot be blamed once the players cross the line it is up to them to do the job they are so well paid to do (I thought we got rid of those at the begining of the season), However Keane has to be accountable for the player brought and sold and for the preperation before the game. The club is only 6 points from play off place which is still very acheviable, However we are only 4 point off religation which is also very acheviable. A very fine line
IITFC1948 added 12:19 - Nov 30
Me think the reason he didnt put Peters on was because he was not on the bench
bluelady added 12:24 - Nov 30
itfc1948 exactly nor our most attacking and natural winger Townsend....... he had the potential to rip into the Norwich defence which wasnt all that.. no instead he puts Civelli on the bench, a guy who hasnt played in nearly 2 years, massive confidence issues yet thought he would be a suitable bench warmer for potentially our biggest game of the season, hmmmmm dont get me wrong i welcome Civelli back with open arms, yet he didnt play him wed (i presume to rest him for sunday) yet he played Connor on wed how duely got injured. Crazy, crazy crazy if anyone of us suggested those kind of tactics we would be shot down on this website, yet Keane is payed thousands to be so far off the mark.
bluelady added 12:26 - Nov 30
oh and ITFC1948 i think Brown is a good player so fingers crossed...... with the exceptoin of i would actually have O Connor at left back, nothing to loose - we wont stop them getting goals so lets just go all out to score more!!!
IITFC1948 added 12:51 - Nov 30
bluelady Yes i would like to see Shane there ,he is more attacking full back, but with him and Jamie as full back we would lack a bit of height . On your other post cant agree more spot on

The West Brom game is a no brainer! Our back four might be able to contain West Broms attack for a while but they will just keep going at us until one of them makes a mistake and then they will punish us. Once they grab a two goal lead it will be way out of our reach! The only way we stand a chance is if Keane puts his boots on and bosses the midfield! Our gutless bunch will throw in the towel after the first goal goes in and then the mindless idiot fans will start the stupid Keane out chants even though we are playing a quality premier team and our own team are down to the bare bones!!. Probably the same idiots who chucked seats at their own fans and scrapped with each other on Sunday .

Well, another day and we still have the clown in charge. With upcoming thrashings against WBA and Swansea, surely that has to be the end??????

Wickedblue no need to get upset and personal just because the horse you have constantly been backing has continually let you down and made you look like the fool on this forum for your consistently idiotic backing of a man who has taken us from a close to playoff side to relegation fodder for two season playing awful football, with lower crowds and worse players whilst spending millions . Wright Wright,Mac,Bruce,Thatcher Walters,Garvan,Norris,Civelli Santos,Stead that side would walkover Keanes team and they were an average championship side shows how far we have fallen Murphy Peters,Smith,O Dea,O Connor Edwards,Norris,Livermore,Townsend Scotland,Priskin lets at least try and attack them at home
