Fallon Warns Dogfight Ahead
Fallon Warns Dogfight Ahead
Monday, 13th Dec 2010 15:47

Striker Rory Fallon has warned his new Town team-mates that they’ll find themselves in a relegation fight sooner rather than later if the current run of bad results isn't ended. The loanee New Zealand international made his full debut in Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Preston.

Fallon, who was relegated from the Championship with parent club Plymouth last season, said: “If we don’t watch it we will be in a dogfight and then every game is a battle, a cup final. The effort is there and, with no disrespect to Plymouth, the team is there for Ipswich to move back up the table.

“You cannot leave it until the end of the season to start winning or Ipswich will be like Plymouth last year. I’ve been in a lot of dogfights and the only way out of it is through hard work.”

Fallon says he’s been at clubs where players have waited for a change of manager to provide impetus: “I’ve been through it all before with players wanting managers to get sacked so the club brings someone else in.

“It’s wrong to wait for someone else to come in and kick us up the backside — we’ve got to do it. By the time you know it you are playing catch-up. And I tell you - you don’t want to be playing catch up.”

The 28-year-old wouldn’t be drawn on whether there are players at Town not giving their all at present: “It’s not up to me to say.

“But we must all look in the mirror and ask ourselves if we are giving 100%. That’s what the lads have got to think.”

As I keep saying and others agree, not everyone of course, but we have a good squad of players. However, the chopping and changing of team selection is helping none of them.

ITFC needs a settled side. Whoever is manager needs to pick his best team and stick with it. This has not happened for 18 months. Players have a good game and find themselves dropped for the next match. They are only human.

Image you do a good piece of work for the boss and within days he has asked someone else to take your place. You would soon be pissed off. ITFC players are no different. Wait till RK goes and we may get more honest info on what is going on inside the club. Perhaps Walters was telling the truth!

Who the hell is the Media/Public Relations Manager for ITFC, why isn't he/she taking control and not letting every tom, dick and harry player talking to the media?

alfromcol and PSGBlue exactly. Nobody expects a miracle with this squad, but realists would like to see a manager that motivates, plays round pegs in round holes and rewards a good performance by keeping a player in the team. Mid table, a few good wins and even the odd heavy loss would do me, as long as we play decent football and look up for each and every game....

I think its a bit enlightening that a newcomer to the squad (Fallon), has probably said it how he has seen it and probably exactl;y how it really is ie The prima donas at the Club are NOT pulling their collective weight.

I wish people would stop keep telling me & others that I should be blindly backing Roy Keane & the players, they have all had enough time to settle in & work together, This team is Roy Keanes & Roy Keanes alone, he chose the players he decides on tactics & substitutions, Some of you seem happy to except that our beloved club should just fall into the abyss & that we should just fall into line & except it!! Well NO! I will keep shouting from the bloody rooftops that I want KEANE OUT, he has done NOTHING, YES I SAID NOTHING in the 18 months he's been here, we are in a complete shambles & STILL people want us to "Back the manager" "Support the players" If things don't change we will be relegated, that is a fact, So those of you who seem intent on telling me to support Roy Keane, will be the same people who are moaning about Division 1 football next season.

KEANE OUT! KEANE OUT! KEANE OUT! KEANE OUT! KEANE OUT! KEANE OUT!

Fallon ....." I've been in a lot of dogfights and the only way out of it is through hard work.”......

Teams doing badly and Fallon up front. Hasn't he seen the connection yet? League 1 football for us next season, I'm afraid.

Why oh why did we bring in this useless laump of lard? Keane must go. Allardyce in. (only joking about the last bit, I would rather have John Duncan back)

Very interesting comments from Fallon, not following the blame me scripted comments from the players. Really does make it sound as though some of the players want a change of manager, if not why would Fallon say what he has said?
If this is the case then it is the strongest proof yet that things will not improve whilst Keane is manager and ME has to change it now. The cost of paying RK off will be small change to the amount club will lose by being relegated, which is what we are on course to do if nothing is changed. FORK!!

Bet Keane drops him now.
Team selection is clearly nothing to do with football......

Obviously it would be wrong to put less effort in if you weren't happy with the coaching etc. but it can't help when you do have a manager that you don't like/don't like playing under/dont think is up to the job which I believe some town players certainly do- e.g townsend at the minute, peters especially (despite his constant 100% effort when picked) and Pablo (still our player), for him especially I think this is relevant as he had lost any respect for keane as walters did when he left.

I wonder if he is talking about Delaney ? Could he be the new Wright ,Garvan , Stead ,Rosenoir ?
Leadbitter and Colback must bring Roy a big shiny apple every day as they seem untouchable

If people were to read the words correctly they would see he is saying " I have been at clubs where players have wanted a change of manager " but he is not saying this is one of them ! Yes maybe some of the players need to look at themselves but as I said before why would players signed by RK ( most having worked with him before ) be trying to oust him ?

I'm so glad we have Rory Fallon, the well known adviser and psychic, as a consort in these troubled times.

perhaps you could do your bit and score a few goals Fallon, dont think team need reminding about prospect of relegation, im bloody sure we dont, but perhaps a word in Keanes ears may remind him of his objectives .

Players make statements all the time in support of the manager when things aren't going so well, what we don't know is are these statements just a script from the top trying to spin some good out of a bad situation?
However I'm not that impresses with many so called town fans on here, turning on the guy after just one game. It's not his fault he was brought in on loan, I'm sure when he got the call to go to a club a league higher (albeit a struggling one) and get the opportunity to play first team football he jumped at the chance, he may or may not be good enough for this league, but beating the guys confidence down by getting on his back isn't really going to help our dire situation at the moment is it. If it turns out that he's not good enough and doesn't get a few goals then the only people to blame for that are the management for bringing him in.
Whatever your stance on the current situation (I was very much a Keane in fan but am very much a Keane out person now) get behind the team and the players!!!

meekreech - of course a 'new manager' would do things differently, i.e play players in their rightful positions, but it remains to be seen if the quality is in the squad to improve the situation we are in.
I personally think there is a certain amount of quality there, but any 'new manager' would certainly have a job on his hands to change this shambles around.
The club has lost it's inherent strength throughout, with so many experienced, knowledgeable 'football' and 'club', people having been moved out.

Mega tough task for anyone, and people within the game will know that - so who would want it right now ??
