Sheffield Wednesday boss Alan Irvine has dismissed reports in the South-West claiming that his club have made an offer for Rory Fallon. The Plymouth striker, who scored his first Town goal at Coventry on Saturday, is on loan with the Blues until January 22nd.

Irvine said: "We have not made an approach to Plymouth about Fallon. I'm well aware of Fallon; I have actually known about him since he was a youth team player at Barnsley when I was at Newcastle. He is a good player but we have not made an inquiry for him."

Town look set to offer the New Zealand international a permanent deal when his loan is up with a fee, which is likely to be in the low hundred thousands, having been provisionally agreed with Argyle.

I will agree gallon has had some good moments, but he is not the answer to either save us from relegation or be the goal machine for promotion to premiership.

Just got feeling RK was getting desperate for a striker and concentrated on fallon when Plymouth had some money problems, or maybe its a good agent.

I would prefer going for a tall, powerful striker like Lacina Traore who if worth a transfer fee.

Whilst I think Fallon has done well I don't see a future for him at Town beyond May. Even if Keane doesn't get sacked now he will be gone come the summer and ITFC will hopefully hire a manager who wants to play a bit of football rather than the current hoof ball dross. Fallon was brought in as he plays to the strengths of our managers dreadful vision of 'total football' where center backs play 50 yard long balls that come down with snow on them. For these reasons a permanent move makes no sense. All the more likely it will happen then!

Keane out...

Forget Fallon, we need goals!!!! Put all the money towards Chopra. Wickham should be able to do the big man role if he's as good as we think.

Mikey. Wickham showed a glimpse of what he is going to be all about one day against Forest. The rest of the time he is still a donkey though.

Dont think its much point in talking transfers until Keane is gone,we wont be attracting anyone of note teatering on brink of relegation.Keane looks like he will be allowed to get us relegated.Better managers are out there without jobs ,yet Evans is sticking with the loser.ive stopped going to matches until Keane is out, and as time go's on and he is still here, im becoming less interested and may never bother going back ,after 45 years !Evans has been FACELESS [dosnt have any real connection with supporters]Clegg is CLUELESS, Keane is USELESS.

We wont get Chopra

He is playing well for Cardiff and scoring goals, there is no way Jones will let him go unless we talk silly money and my guess would be 5 Million and his wage demand would be high, so really cant see Clegg pushing the boat out,

The only thing would be if we sold Wickham for silly money, however we would still have the same ammount of strikers, we could also buy Colbeck and Fallon, Hoever the squad size would be no different and Keane is saying we are short on numbers.

We need quility palyer to come in or at least do a job and get us out of this division without letting players leave the club

NOOOOO, please lets save our money for some quality !

Those of you who want to sign him ... Well, all i can say is that it shows how low our ambitions and expectations have become.

Brainwashed into the Keane way of playing maybe ?

Shrewd move by Plymouth to invent a bit of interest in Fallon, they know how gullible this club is from past experience.
Look what happened when Magilton said that he must sign 'Handcuffs' Norris - they played their cards right and we ended up paying £2.2m for a player that is slow, can't pass, can't take a free kick, can't head a ball and picks up yellow cards for the most cynical challenges I've seen from a Town player since 'Chopper' Jefferson.

Can't fault his effort or indeed performances to date. A decent loan. But will he score enough goals? I am not convinced. Defo has a physical aspect to his game which is useful. Would prefer to keep him on loan until May. Priority has to go to a natural goalscorer.

But Jas, what if you're wonder striker gets injured? Surely we need strength in depth?

Fallon has got to be worth a punt. Plymouth don't want him, so I can't imagine he'd break the bank. Could turn out to be a pretty astute purchase.

You can't blame Plymouth for trying to invent interest (just as Wigan did for Jason Scotland) as they need to raise somewhere in the region of £700,000 before they revisit the High Court in February (and if we do buy him what is the betting it is for an 'Undisclosed Fee').
But my opinion is that it is irrelevant who we buy as Keane's preferred way of Town playing football will just result in the same dire situation we have at the moment.

ME has a comb-over then!

Fallon looked good on Mon. But will he make a different to our season overall? Unlikely. Gary Roberts, another honest player imo, was teriffic pre contract ....

We need a miracle NOT average or slightly above average in the case of Colback.

Fallon will do a job,and is as good as anyone we are likely to attract. We should have got rid of Keane and taken on Hughton,at least he would get us playing again then it would be easier to judge players,at moment they dont know if they are on their a;se or elbow.Getting rid of Keane is a priority at moment,he will take us down otherwise.

Fallon has been playing well and deserved a penalty. We find it easier to blame strikers for not scoring but they need the service from midfield. Same old story lump it and miss them out.

Why buy Fallon, extend his loan if you must but he is not the long term answer for this club, there is no long term solution to this misery, until Keane goes, we are short in pretty much every department, I just hope he is not going to be given more money to waste, if so just more dross coming in.

The bigger worry is our dire league form and position, hurry up Feb and let's get this cup crap over with, we really need some points or its the drop.
