Press Conference This Morning
Press Conference This Morning
Friday, 7th Jan 2011 08:33

Town have called a press conference for 11am where it is expected they will confirm Roy Keane's departure from the club, as reported overnight.

The Blues could potentially also announce Keane's replacement with Paul Jewell set to be the new man, although it may be that Ian McParland or one of the other backroom staff will be in charge in the interim.

The new manager should have been lined up weeks ago so he could identify his January transfer targets. I hope this is just a formality and the whoever is in charge now is working away behind the scenes. Keane stepped into Magilton's seat pretty much instantly.

With this great news can we get a public holiday in Suffolk?

great news.
I would be great if very far fetched to appoint Lambert.

It was so nice to hear the sky news reporter referring to us as "Ipswich" once again this morning rather than "Roy Keane's Ipswich".

Whilst I think this is a good move for Ipswich, it is still a little sad. Keane's departure will be formal confirmation of his failure here at Ipswich, and I am sure most, if not all of us, really wanted him to suceed.

I hope he has learnt much from his time here. Yes, his post-match interviews recenlt had become the same, he always came across as a thoroughly honest guy, albeit perhaps out of his depth here at town.

So, the day is tinged with a little sadness for me, bittersweet maybe. Would have so loved to have been chanting Keanooooooo as we won the league.

But yes, we have to stop the slide to the 3rd tier, so thanks Keane, good luck in your future endeavours, and welcome, the new manager, whomever you are.

Why would Lambert want to leave Norwich and come to us. All everyone does on here is moan constantly about the manger and why we are not going to get promoted when as a club we clearly have a lot to sort out behind the scenes before we can even start to think about promotion.

Goodbye Roy. Well done for bringing our once great club to its knees. You can sit at home now and count your millions. I really hope we get someone in that brings entertaining attacking football. I go to PR for entertainment, and we haven't had much of that for a long time.

BluePhilG - agree entirely with your words.
If it is to be Jewell I hope everyone puts their personal thoughts to one side and gets behind him. Not my first choice but I support the club and the manager whoever that may be.
I also hope we do not panic buy this window (not that ME would fall into that trap), better to steady the ship and build in the summer, possibly with finance coming from the sale of Wickham. Seems sensible to me.
Good luck in the future Keano.

My 2 rules of employment.
1. Never Employ Scousers
2. Never Employ Fatties

Apart from that and considering the mess he left behind at Derby, if the rumours are true then Jewell will get my full support

Has Maradona been linked yet- I think he is what we deserve

agree Roy needed to go, too close to relegation so worth getting someone in just to ensure survival. but Paul Jewell??! that is going from bad to worse.

Hughton for me. Doubt Curbs would come.

Lambert & Houghton are talking to PREMIERSHIP clubs.

We'll get Jewell.

I hope it's Curbs as the 'man' and his style of football are Ipswich through and through, don't mind Houghton but what really gets me is the timing of all this. We are already into the transfer window, what chance has the new manager of coming in and bringing in the right players and getting rid of those who need to go?
I hope, despite our position that we don't get a knee jerk appointment, but with Clegg and co on board I'm not confident that will happen, whoever it is has a very tough job & will need our support!!!
