Jewell Looking to Send Youngsters Out on Loan
Jewell Looking to Send Youngsters Out on Loan
Thursday, 3rd Feb 2011 15:31

Boss Paul Jewell says he has received enquiries about taking one or two of his younger players on loan and plans to send some of them out to gain experience.

Jewell said: “We’ve had one or two enquiries, but nothing’s come of it so far. We want to make sure it’s a club which gives them a chance. It’s no good them going out on loan and not playing somewhere else.

“If they can go out and see what it’s like a bit lower down where it’s not as posh or comfortable as this place, it might open their eyes and they’ll think they want to make sure they’re here rather than training on public parks and washing their own kit. A lot of clubs have to put up with that.”

The likes of Reggie Lambe, Ronan Murray, Billy Clark, Jack Ainsley, Ian McLoughlin, Jamie Griffiths, David Cawley, Luke Hyam and Tom Eastman could be amongst those the Blues boss looks to find temporary clubs.

All of those players are on the list of players who are out of contract in the summer and Jewell says their situations will be looked at in due course: “It’s something we have to address and we have to be fair to everyone, but it’s a case of trying to balance so many balls in the air at the moment.

“I think the players deserve great credit because no one’s coming in and knocking on the door, everyone’s coming in every day and training hard.

“I’ve been honest with them about their situations those that have asked me and I’ll continue to do that. Somewhere along the line I’ll have to address of having so many contracts up. It’s not ideal and hopefully it won’t happen again.”

I agree with sending the younger ones out on loan but surely we would rather have Luke Hyam playing than Healy.

Don't see too many getting a look in between now and contract renewal time - especially with PJ saying a few loanees coming in!

Good plan - people like Eastman and Murray who have genuine potential could do with a loan spell at a club that is going to play them. Would probably try and keep Hyam in the first team squad if possible

bluechick:

Martin has already shown that he is hungry to play for us! and I think he has done well..
Send Murray, Lambe, Hyam, Eastman, and perhaps Brown out on loan

Surely Murray is the prime example here. I think a League Two or Conference team would be ideal for him to get games and score some "proper" goals. Tom Eastman could definitely do a job at that level too.

bluechick - Martin has had two good games since his return

Everyone of those youngsters can go out on loan apart from Hyam, very good player

He might as well keep 14 or 15 playrs and send the rest out on loan as he doesn't use his fookin' subs anyway.

Send norris to portsmouth on loan for a month and he will be begging for the contract he refused to sign back. Lol we need him but would be funny.

Maybe a little less negativity towards the likes of Lee Martin would be of more usefullness for all concerned.

Why didn't we send Jordan Rhodes out on loan?....oh yeah, cos we had that bloke who didn't know how to manage a football team in charge...silly me forgettin' that..doh!

Agree our youngsters should be sent out on loan alot more than they are now. So they have a taste of grass roots football, they come back hungrier.
I agree it would give players like Hyam and co great experince

Is it just me, or - in 10 years time - will Paul Jewell look just like Joe Royle?

We wouldnt have to be sending any players out on loan if the useless FA sorted out a proper reserve league. Sort it Brooking!

I think some loans would really benefit some of our young lads. In some cases there are several players ahead of them at the moment, so how else are they to prove they deserve a new contract? Murray, Lambe, Hyam, Eastman could do a great job for most league 2 teams at least and for this sort of thing we shouldn't be asking for a fee (so long as they get games!) Everyone would benefit! (in theory!)

Sending some of the younger players out on loan makes alot of sense---- half expected PJ would have this in mind--- would, however, like to see Hyam still available for us if needed---- needs putting on for a spell--- he can be relied upon to do a good job. Feel Lee Martin is shaping up--- keep him busy!!

Hyam is quality - Murray is rated as best finisher at the club ..keep those two - loan rest ..Oh and Martin deserves a run - if Fergie thought he was ok then that aint a bad recommendation

Sounds as though even Jewell is disappointed with how the club have handle the contract negotiations and who can blame him! Wouldkeep Hyam, Eastman and Lambe.

Did anyone else here that the club won't talk to Delaney? What's all that about!
