Scotland Confirms Town Have Given Green Light for Swans Return
Scotland Confirms Town Have Given Green Light for Swans Return
Wednesday, 9th Feb 2011 09:34

Striker Jason Scotland has confirmed that Town have given him the green light to return to Swansea on loan, as revealed by TWTD last night. The Trinidadian, 32 next week, is frustrated by his lack of opportunities since Paul Jewell took over at Portman Road.

Scotland, who joined the Blues from Wigan for £750,000 in the summer, says he moved to Town to get games: "I went to Ipswich to play football and I'm not doing that. I am at that point in my career when I need to be playing, not sitting on the bench.

"The new manager has come in and I have not had a chance, but I feel I have a lot to contribute. I had a word with him and he is happy to let me go.

"If Swansea are interested in me, it would be great. I enjoyed the best time of my career there and it would be an easy decision for me."

Swans boss Brendan Rodgers has previously said that he would seriously consider bringing Scotland back to the Liberty Stadium if he became available.

Town would almost certainly want to line up a replacement before allowing the former St Johnstone and Dundee United man to move on with Tamás Priskin and youngsters Connor Wickham and Ronan Murray the only out-and-out strikers at the club.

Scotland enjoyed a hugely successful spell with the Swans between 2007 and 2009, scoring 53 goals in 91 starts and 14 sub appearances. He says he has watched his former club in action this season and believes he would slot straight back in and continue that impressive record.

The frontman says the ball is now in the Swans’ court:"If Swansea come calling then it would be an easy decision. I'm not interested in going to any other club. It's up to Swansea now to speak to Ipswich and make something happen."

This tells me Jewell has a replacement deal done and dusted. We just don't know who yet.

As somebody has already said, this to me sounds like Paul Jewell has a replacement for Jason Scotland already lined up. I dont see why we'd let Scotland go if we havent got a replacement lined up.

yeah my thoughts ar that we've got someone already lined up. Jewell's not as daft as Keane, or at least i hope not.

I woud really like to see the Posh pair Makail-smith and Boyd, both really impressive against Southampton at the weekend. Can't see them moving on a loan though.

As i have said before i think Scotland would outscore Priskin easily playing upfront for us now Scotland 19 starts 7 goals Priskin 15 starts 4 goals so far , i think Jewell is lining up a replacement for both with Priskin dropping to the bench if Scotland goes

Yet another panic buy from Mr Keane.
Sorry but Scotland was fantastic about three years ago, now seems very slow, overweight and past it.............Happens to us all im afraid.

Blimey. Given service, which now seems to have resumed under PJ, would score regularly, I think. MUST have a replacement lined up.

If he isn't willing to even try to fight for his place then he should be moved on. Hopefully we will get someone in to replace him asap.

If Paul Jewell is so great how come he hasn't given the guy a chance?

He has already seen enough of him to realise that Jason Scotland may be a good footballer but has his brains in his feet. Time and time again he would try and score from imposible angles when there were other players in space. Yes, he does score some fine goals but he is overweight and too selfish too often for my liking. I would much prefer Priskin and Wickham taking up the prime striking positions and yes, I guess, Paul Jewell must have someone else in mind...

he hasnt given him a real chance because there is better strikers at the club in better form, not necccessarily in goal scorin form but goal creation too....... he jus doesnt show enough fight and determination for me when he does come on...... but wish him all the best at swansea should he go

I suppose we could always bring Pablo back from Palace if sitting on the bench is the main duty.

I hope if he does go to Swansea he is not aloud to play against us when the two teams meet in the league.
Paplo to come Back???

I really don't know why people have so much bad feeling against Pablo. He was a great servant to Ipswich and scored a number of important goals. He fell out with Roy Keane...to be fair, who didnt!! I remember one Saturday when he wasnt even in the squad up watching Westerfield V Ransomes in the SIL with Civelli who's mate was playing. Top man!!

Tractaboy

Work in Peterborough and know alot of Peterborough season ticket holders.
They say Boyd is unplayable on his day but its far a few between, they say one good game in about 4 and they get very frustrated with him.

Mackil-Smith they say is class and would be able to do a job in the Championship

Might as well let Scotland go. At 32 he needs first team football and we can shave a few quid off the wage budget. Adam Le Fondre from Rotherham??

Austin was going to replace him, if that had gone through he would have left in Jan. PJ has seen enough of him in training and videos to know he does not suit the style of play he wants at town,

let's hope he has someone lined-up who will push priskin and wickham because we don't score enough goals
