Quinn Released
Quinn Released
Friday, 8th Apr 2011 12:34

Blues boss Paul Jewell has told midfielder Alan Quinn that he won’t be kept on at the end of the season. The former Ireland international has missed the entire campaign having picked up a groin injury in the pre-season friendly at Leiston.

The 31-year-old pulled up early in the game at Victory Road in July after what looked a routine clash, but has since required two operations and has been limited to just 45 minutes of reserve football this season.

Jewell said: “I’ve told Quinny that there won’t be an offer for him here but, as with all the other players who have been released, we’ll try to do as much as we can to help them move on.

“Quinny’s just been really unlucky, a terrific lad, a good player but maybe it’s just time for him to try something else.”

Dubliner Quinn joined the Blues from Sheffield United for £400,000 in January 2008.

Not sorry to be honest, bad luck with injuries has hampered him but we need to be moving forward, looks like our first team may look very different next season. Good to see PJ getting on with things.

He is a good player and will offer alot to another Champ/League 1 club, that Iv no doubt. Good set piece delivery, hard worker and a tidy player.
With an expected 4-4-2 from PJ next season spots in midfield will be limited and very competitive.
Best of luck Alan.

Quinn is genuinely a really good footballer. Shame he has had his injury problems. If fit, there are teams at this level that could do a lot worse than signing Quinner.

With Lisbie, Counago and Quinn now gone, that must be at least £25k a week freed up to sign Bullard?

No big surprise, a solid footballer as others have said and has done a decent job for us for the money paid, but never likely to be kept on having been out all season. I hope he gets himself a contract somewhere else as he is a very good pro.

He should have been kept. A better player than Norris.

Best of luck Alan, didn't see the best of him because of injuries but always gave a good shift when he played.

People talk about saying so and so let go to free up wages for Bullard we will have to replace some of these players with others not just Jimmy

I have to be honest - we shouldn't brought him at Portman Road in the first place. At the time he was a deep reserve of the Sheffield Utd team that was fighting to escape relegation. And he was not even in their first team. I admire his pace and determination but this is all he has. He should never be considered for a team that claims to be fighting for promotion.
Good luck for Alan in the future!

Good luck to him, hopefully the injury won' t stop his footballing career as it has done at Town.

Best of luck to Alan, but for me he is an average player. Injuries haven't helped, but he is no better than any of the other midfield options we have at the club. Good decision by PJ.

Certainly not the worst player to have graced the Portman Road turf. All the very best for your future Alan.
