Blues boss Paul Jewell has told midfielder Alan Quinn that he won’t be kept on at the end of the season. The former Ireland international has missed the entire campaign having picked up a groin injury in the pre-season friendly at Leiston.

The 31-year-old pulled up early in the game at Victory Road in July after what looked a routine clash, but has since required two operations and has been limited to just 45 minutes of reserve football this season.

Jewell said: “I’ve told Quinny that there won’t be an offer for him here but, as with all the other players who have been released, we’ll try to do as much as we can to help them move on.

“Quinny’s just been really unlucky, a terrific lad, a good player but maybe it’s just time for him to try something else.”

Dubliner Quinn joined the Blues from Sheffield United for £400,000 in January 2008.

At the time he was a deep reserve of the Sheffield Utd team that was fighting to escape relegation. And he was not even in their first team. I admire his pace and determination but this is all he has. He should never be considered for a team that claims to be fighting for promotion. Good luck for Alan in the future!
