Released Town midfielder Alan Quinn recently spent time in hospital after picking up an infection having undergone his second groin operation of the season. Boss Paul Jewell says the Irishman spent “four or five days” in a hospital in Leicester.

Quinn, who has been told he won’t be offered a new contract at the end of the season, returned to Playford Road yesterday with Jewell pleased to see him up and about again: “I’ve just seen Quinny, he’s had a really tough time. He’s been off for about 10 days.

“He had an operation on his groin that got an infection and he’s been in hospital in Leicester for about four or five days getting it drained. He’s been in a lot of pain and he’s only just come back.

“He had to have it drained. He had a big lump in his groin, so it was quite nasty and he was quite ill really. It’s nice to see him back.”

Quinn, 31, suffered the groin injury in the pre-season game at Leiston and has been restricted to just 45 minutes of reserve team football this season.

Hope you get yourselve sorted Quinny. Thought you have been a good pro who has never grumble and tried to get on with things. And i think im correct in saying that you scored a cracker agains Norwich a couple of years ago.Just think a few more of the other players could learn a bit from your attitude to your work

Sad about being ill for so long, hope it's not long before you're back in football.
