Town Confirm Ellington Move
Tuesday, 21st Jun 2011 14:32

Ipswich Town have confirmed that Nathan Ellington has joined the club on a two-year deal. The striker will be paraded at a press conference being held at 3pm.

TWTD has been reporting a possible deal for the former Wigan striker for several days and Ellington himself tweeted that he was joining the club earlier today.

Town boss Paul Jewell said: "I've worked with Nathan before at Wigan and Derby and know his strengths. He has shown he can score goals at this level and will add to the competition for places within the squad."

Really happy, 3 solid championship players signed before pre-season, something we have not done in the last few years, Well Done PJ!

I always think 'paraded' sounds funny, I imagine him being marched round a circus big top-style ring by Paul Jewell, with paps all around. LOL

Yippee!! Released by Watford, not good enough for relegated Preston. So come along to Ipswich for a last payday.

Whoppit, do one will you. Even if he comes here scores five goals and sits on the bench, for a free transfer i'm sure he will do a fair job. Comparing him to what we have already he will be a variation with pace and power as opposed to Chops (predator), Wickham (raw), Scotland (fat) and Priskin (unreliable).

good signing by pj have always liked him as a player good strength and pace something scotland certainly didnt show last seaon now for someone to create the goals for the duke, chops and cw!!!

Ellington on a free is a great bit of business. If he does it for us then we're laughing, if not we lose very little. Brings us another option with his hold up play at the very least, something we badly missed last season. It's a win-win. Welcome to the Duke and COYB.

@pitseablue.......

i hope so, that said, a few 6-5's at portman road wouldnt go a miss, weve been starved of entertainment for too long! I still think if no one else signs JB he might be back but that wont be right at the last minute..... two defenders and at least one mid on their way i reckon though, and probabaly a keeper too!

cornishnick, if you want to give stats how about looking at number of assists too as that could be key with Chopra needing someone to feed him... welcome Nathan, hope you ignore those who pretend to be a town fan yet wont let you kick a ball before condeming you, shame on them.
