Jewell Still Looking to Send Youngsters Out on Loan
Jewell Still Looking to Send Youngsters Out on Loan
Thursday, 11th Aug 2011 07:14

Blues boss Paul Jewell says he still hopes to send youngsters such as Ronan Murray and Luke Hyam out on loan to gain experience this season. The Town manager feels younger pros benefit from spells playing in the lower leagues.

Jewell said: “I’d still like to do that. I feel the young players learn more going out on loan and finding out what it’s like in the real world.

“You look around here and the facilities are Premier League standard and not everywhere’s like this. I keep trying stress this to the young players.

“Ronan Murray went off to Torquay last year and really enjoyed himself. It was a bit of an eye-opener for him — the facilities and how tough it is down there.

“I’m hoping it gives those players a hunger to want to succeed at this level. Going and playing football [on loan] will develop them more than playing behind closed doors friendlies and reserve games here. I certainly learnt more about football going to play football in somebody’s first team."

Luke Hyam should be playing for the 1sts as a holding midfielder rather than hop along Kennedy!

Big gaz - not on what we have seen so far this season. LH looked good for spell last season but has lost his way. Loan would do him the world of good.

Not looking to knock the lad but I feel a spell on loan would do him the world of good, especially after tuesday nights performance, all part of his education.

Fair call folks - I wasn't there on Tuesday - as I season ticket holder I refused to pay £ 15 for a reserve team game! But that's another story....

Big gaz you obviously weren't there Tuesday. Hyam was well out of his depth and the game past him by. He needs to toughen up if he was to be a holding midfielder as on Tuesday he didn't win anything.

Nobody's knocking anyone, just expressing their opinions as regards fringe players, no point in them hanging around playford road and watching the first team on a Saturday afternoon and Tuesday evening, may as well get some game time elsewhere.

Blue lady I saw him in the reserves the other day and I 100% agree he looked out of position I wonder if when keane suddenly dropped him from the side he lost lots of confidence jewell hasn't been able to get him back to his best YET

Cant see Cody Cropper going anywhere just yet.The Goalkeeping situation rules that out, I think? But would agree with Paul Jewell it would benefit the players to play regular pro football elsewhere to make them tougher and realize how good Ipswich is.They would benefit all round with this. They must be made to realize they are not being discarded by Ipswich,This would be another process in their training to represent Ipswich fc COYB
