Griffiths: No Hesitation in Joining Argyle Tuesday, 6th Sep 2011 09:15 Town midfielder Jamie Griffiths says he had no hesitation in joining loan club Plymouth Argyle. The 19-year-old, who is at Home Park for an initial month, made his Argyle debut as a sub with 20 minutes remaining of their 2-1 defeat at Burton Albion on Saturday. Griffiths said the switch came about very quickly: “It was all of a sudden really. When I came in for lunch from training the gaffer called me into his office. “He told me Plymouth wanted me on loan and I didn’t hesitate. I wanted to come down and play. I had a word with [Pilgrims boss] Peter Reid and it was all sorted.” The Great Cornard-based academy product says he is over the fitness problems which saw him miss the second half of 2010/11: “I had a back injury at the end of last season — a stress fracture — but I’m all right now. I had a full pre-season and have been playing for the reserves. I feel fine.” Griffiths, whose only senior Town appearance was as a late sub in last season’s Carling Cup victory over Northampton, says he wasn’t fully aware of the financial situation at Plymouth before he moved to Home Park, where he has joined up with former Blue Conor Hourihane: “I didn’t really know how bad it was here, to be honest. I had heard players hadn’t been paid but I didn’t realise the extent of it. “But the lads have been great with me. They are all really friendly and I have settled in quickly. Obviously, that helps a lot.” The wideman or central midfielder, who is contracted to the Blues until the end of the year having been handed a six-month deal in the summer, says he’ll benefit from a full week working with his new team-mates: “I will get a full week’s training with the lads under my belt and I can’t wait until Saturday.” Fans across the country are being asked to help their Plymouth counterparts with their match against Macclesfield on Saturday 24th September having been declared Fans Re-United Day.
