Clark Joins Bury
Clark Joins Bury
Thursday, 13th Oct 2011 15:05

Released Blues midfielder Billy Clark has joined Ryman League Premier Division side Bury Town while he looks for a new professional club. The 19-year-old former academy scholar has spent time on trial with Sheffield United, Gillingham and Luton since leaving Portman Road at the end of last season when he infamously reacted angrily to the decision on Twitter.

Former Northgate High School pupil Clark made three first team appearances as a sub for the Blues, all at the end of the 2009/10 season.

Clark made his Bury debut in last night’s 3-1 Suffolk Premier Cup victory away at Walsham-le-Willows.

Meanwhile, Keith Andrews and Damien Delaney’s Republic of Ireland will face Estonia in the Euro 2012 play-offs.

The first leg will be in Estonia on November 11th or 12th, while the game in Dublin will be played on November 15th.

Elsewhere, ex-Canary Darren Huckerby has revealed that he was sounded out about joining the Blues after leaving Norwich: “There were a few options on the table in the summer of 2008.

“Neil Warnock’s Crystal Palace, Burnley and Hull all expressed an interest; someone at Ipswich contacted me too, although that was never going to happen, obviously.”

Good!!! I wish these footballers would stop 'tweeting' their nonsense, if I made any inflammatory comments via such sites about my job/workplace I could well be sacked.

That'll be his Nan asking for her knitting needles back. Tight fisted Canary, give 'em her back, she's knitting booties for the ITFC Juniors for winter! You cant keep 'em forever!

I watched that bury vs walsham game last night as a good friend of mine (who's 17) plays for walsham. he is right footed but was played LB and managed to keep Clark under control all game. now If he can do that at his age etc, Clark shouldn't be a pro which means town did the right thing by giving him the boot!

Clark looked poor against Walsham. Has no future in professional football IMO. Should think about trying to train towards another career. If you can't even create an opportunity against Walsham,- its over I'm afraid.
Walsham midfielders sprinted passed him a few times too. Embarrassing.

I think some people on here are being a bit harsh with their criticism of Billy Clark. Yes he shouldnt of said what he did but put yourself in his place, you have just been told your dream of being a footballer is more than likely over, the realisation that you have failed is not pleasant trust me.. but I have seen a lot worse reactions in my time than mouthing off on twitter.. Me I just went home and cried for a month :o)

DanPage123, you say your friend is good for his age. I have watched him in 6 games this season. Every game but one he has failed to produce an acceptable performance. Think he needs to go back to sunday league under 10s. Get him out!!!

DanPage123 is entitled to his opinion, and to honest, is probably right. I have watched many Ressie games for town, and Clark is lacking in some important areas.

Out of order comment on a player who is NOT a professional. You can say something like that to your mate, but not on here. The boy gets about £50 a game, tops, and would be very hurt by a comment like that. If it was about my son, I would be spitting blood....
