Priskin Set for Derby Tuesday, 22nd Nov 2011 22:21
Town striker Tamás Priskin is understood to be on the verge of joining Derby County on loan. The Hungarian international was a surprise omission from today’s reserves side which beat West Ham 3-2 in a friendly at Playford Road.
Talks are believed to have taken place regarding a one-month loan to go through before Thursday's 5pm deadline, presumably with a view to a permanent deal in January.
The former Watford man, whose contract is up at the end of the season, has spent much of his career with the Blues away from Portman Road having previously been on loan at QPR and Swansea City.
Priskin made his only Blues appearance of the season in the 3-2 defeat to Doncaster prior to the international break, before being left out of the 16 at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Town signed the 25-year-old for £1.7 million from the Hornets in the summer of 2009 but despite famously scoring the winning goal in last season's Carling Cup semi-final first leg victory over Arsenal, has never really established himself with the Blues.
In between his previous loan spells, the 6ft 1in tall frontman has made 35 starts and 24 sub appearances, scoring nine goals.

Unlikely to ever amount to much, I think he will end up going back to Hungary next summer with a shed load of our cash in his back pocket, what a complete waste of money, much like many our other recent signings, just where is our scouting system, what is wrong with players from Div 1 or 2, other clubs do it, just look at little Peterborough, nearly all their squad is from the lower leagues and before anyone starts, they have a better side than us for much less outlay !!!

There is a decent footballer in there somewhere! Shame we couldnt see enough of it! Some players have little technical ability but always give 110% and win fans over, others have the ability but appear lazy (in the Berbatov mold) but get away with it by banging in the goals when the chances present themselves. I think Tamas could prove to be the latter (a poor mans Berbatov) but needs to put his chances away! Something he hasnt done enough of here. Oh well, more wages saved. lets see where we spend them.....

See on Wiki he's already at Derby! Bluelady - not very often I disagree with you but record for all the championship clubs he has played for: League 117 Apps - 21 Goals Almost 1 goal every 6 games is not good enough! Shame it's on loan - if I were Town I would have waited until Jan and let him go on a free. Derby will sus him out by christmas and he will be back with us then!

Like so many over the last two years, never had a proper run of games or support from the rest of the team.

Priskin has never had a decent run in the side. I think he is a talented player who would thrive in a team that plays football. We have been intent in lumping long high balls up to the strikers none of whom have been effective. Surely the question has to be why ?? Chopra top striker who has to deal with high long balls week in week out. Letds buy some creative pacey players. Come January there will be a mass exodus from this club with Collins, Andrews, Wabara and Murphy all taking their money and running. We will be near the foot of the table and the likes of Billy Sharp will end up with a team building for promotion. That i'm sorry to say is not us. Hate to be negative.

See Colin Healy has had his contract terminated. Goes to show pj isnt up to the job if he can't accept someone coming into his office and having a go about things. Shows more passion than most and you get booted out the door. In jewell I have no trust.

........... now the Priskin knockers don't want him to play against us - and yet they don't rate him - bl##dy hypocrites. Priskin, very talented - excellent player in a good footballing side. As neillrumsey says - that's NOT us.

ivorfeeling.. well put my friend. the blokes scoring record does not hold up and that is at all the clubs put together.. he had more than enough chances, my only worry is derby will send him back. hopefully fingers crossed i will be wrong. And for all those who rate him, what part of his record impresses you? And it surely isnt his work rate is it? the mind boggles as to why so many rate him. the facts are he is a massive flop , here and every club he has played at. Think the wright signing makes good sense...Good luck to Healy.. COYB

h32... what club, including loan clubs has the player been a success, just give me some facts to prove me wrong, you make a statement about my football knowledge, the facts are on my side, the guy has ability, of course. But he is too lazy to be a success anywhere, he is not good enough to be that lazy, i suggest you take those blinkers off... another point at no club he has played for was he a fans favorite........coyb

Priskin has had numerous chances infront of goal and hasn't taken them. He did at Watford, he hasn't here, it happens. My philosophy is you can't blame someone for being a poor footballer, its not completely their fault. Yes they can help it (training extra, fitness etc.) but in general you are either quite good, or not very good and its not the players fault if they aren't born with exceptional talent like players like Rooney and Messi are. Who you can blame are the managers who spend £1.7m on such players.
