Town Extend Mitre Kit Contract Monday, 28th Nov 2011 13:51
Town have announced a two-year extension to their contract with kit manufacturer Mitre until the end of the 2013/14 season. Mitre have supplied team strips, benchwear and training gear for the last four years.
Blues chief executive Simon Clegg said: “I have been impressed with the quality of Mitre’s products and their experience in the design and manufacture of sportswear is second to none.
“I am pleased that we have concluded a deal which will see a consolidation of the strong partnership that has built up between Mitre and the football club and the continued presence of the sportswear company’s brand on our shirts.”
Mitre’s managing director Gary Hibbert added: “We’re delighted to have extended our partnership for a further two years with Ipswich Town after a successful four years.
“Ipswich is the perfect partner for Mitre, steeped in heritage, with a history that includes an FA Cup win, a UEFA Cup victory and a top five Premiership finish."

@AlanMahon2011 "Right! I was told that the current home shirt is only one season long because we were changing our manufacturers. This was to result in discount off the next home shirt due to it being only one season long. This now means the discount is out the window? If so what a bunch of money grabbing thieves! " What is actually the issue? If the kit only lasts for one year, you expect a discount off of the next one, to make up for the fact it only lasts one year and not two. Ok, I get that bit. But if it actually lasts two years, not one, then you got what you paid for without a need for any discount at all. No idea what the "money grabbing" aspect is here.

If it is only for one year then why didn't they discount the current shirt rather than the next one? This is like the early bird offer - flawed. It used to be that if you renewed your season ticket before the deadline and we were promotrd (ha, ha!) then we would get a 50% discount of the Premiership season ticket. Now it will be a 50% rebate on the current ticket. This could be a massive difference, if our £ 500 ticket suddenly becomes £ 800 and we only get a £ 250 refund then that is 66% worse than the previous offer!

i also wish town would stop the 3 stars for pre-ordered shirts. either all the shirts have them or none. it looks silly to visiting fans to see some with and some without. if they want to encourage pre-orders give something away with the shirt(voucher or reduced price or something). also be nice if we get a choice like we used to have.

Never worn them, have you Clegg. There must be a reason no one else uses Mitre for kit.

This season's kit should've been based on the championship winning kit of 50 seasons ago.... ie. retro design, simple v-neck blue shirt with white sleeves. Would've sold by the lorry-load I reckon. Has the anniversary completely flown over the board's head...... or have the fools got ideas about repeating the feat one day?????????

they said in a recent match programme - an announcement will be made shortly on how the club was going to mark the event at the nearest home game to the day the title was won. i suggest now this kit deal is done that town wear a modern day version of the kit worn that year(hooped socks et all) on the day of this game. agree with statto72 that they should have chosen the 62 year kit instead of another pin stripe kit.

Another 2 years of unimaginatively designed poor quality shirts, then. I refuse to pay £43 for their shoddy merchandise.
