Andrews: We Should Have Won
Andrews: We Should Have Won
Saturday, 3rd Dec 2011 18:28

Midfielder Keith Andrews said he and the rest of the squad believed they should have beaten Watford after the Hornets left Portman Road with a 2-1 victory.

Andrews said: "We're obviously devastated not to have won the game and I felt that our performance deserved more than a defeat.

"I thought on the whole we put in a good shift and we didn't get our just rewards, which was the disappointing aspect.

"We're all big and bold enough to realise that seven defeats on the spin isn't good enough and we need to a get a win as soon as possible, which hopefully will be against Barnsley on Saturday."

Defender Ibrahima Sonko was left frustrated by the penalty he conceded, tweeting: “Soft penalty is killing me, so annoyed. Can't believe it.”

Unused sub Reece Wabara was similarly frustrated: “Disappointing result, but can't fault the players’ desire. Very unfortunate to get something out the game. The fans were great as always.”

The three comments are from players who will leave in December or May. So, I suspect they'll get over this more quickly than we will.

No point talking about what we should have done ... we LOST as we have lost seven now. Not good enough. Buck stops with PJ.

did any of the above posters go to todays game?????? i doubt that very much, from their comments,, the players did show a lot more desire than of late, and were very unlucky today, the performance DID deserve a result.. However for me and i have never been one to want to get managers sacked as it very rarely improves things. But i have to question Jewells tactical thinking, why take off chopra to replace him with ellington? surely a more sensible substitution would have been to move murphy up front alongside scotland and bring on carson in place of the departing chopra? WE wanted goals... COYB

I agree ,i cant believe he brought on ellington and not carson when we were down and in the .... get the wingers bombing on both flanks and get the ball away from our defence

Please sign Andrews in January. Lots of positives today.
Players worked hard and did deserve something from the game.
Not the best time to be a Town supporter but pleases get behind the team and PJ.

Dissboyitfc. I was there today as always. I am a very patient man, ask h32, i was always berating him on here, but, enough is enough. We lost again to a very average Watford team. My patience finally ran out last weekend. Today just reinforces this. PJ must be replaced ASAP. Nice guy i,m sure but not good enough to keep us up or progress sufficiently to challenge for promotion. We were not unlucky today. We failed to take our chances or defend properly.

we only lost because they scored more goals than us, lets look at the positives.....and when we go down surely the tickets for away games will be cheaper

YOU LOT ARE A JOKE! I find it embarrassing to read comments like this and for them to be associated with our club. Those of you who thought we were gonna get promoted this year are totally deluded! Managing Ipswich is one of the toughest jobs around. It's a long-term job. Promotion won't be a realistic target for a year at least. PJ is rebuilding, he needs time. Don't get me wrong, to lose 7 on the bounce is horrible, it's not right. But it happens! Paul Jewell is a very good manager. We are a better team than the table reflects at the moment and it will be turned around. Bringing in a new manager would bring us back to square one. Starting the rebuilding process again, it'll take longer to reach where we need to be at. Get behind PJ and the players. I have seen what it's like when players don't want to play for their manager and have lost the desire. It's not like that at all with our team now. You could see that today. They put in a decent performance, they gave it their all. We didn't get the rub of the green today. changing the manager now would be stupid...brainless talk as far as i'm concerned.

I agree notorious, this season was all about re-building and we were not going to get to the promised land this year. But doesn't stop me sh!tting myself about where we are in the league.

Got to give PJ at least this season moving in to next to see how he moulds the team. Although I am quite aware footy is a results business and we are just not getting them at the mo and buck has to stop with the manager.

A couple of sensible post by notorious and dommy. Those that attended today could surely see the performance was a big improvent from previous weeks and to be fair the crowd were better too. Then a couple of things didn't go our way (soft pen and Martin deciding not to clear into row z) and we go behind and the boo boys get there chance again!

Let's get behind the team. They need us more than ever.

The only sensible posts on here this evening. Anyone SUPPORTING ITFC who attended the game today would have seen a much improved performance today and if it continues the results will follow.

Plenty of support for the team as they left the pitch after the match. Applauded off the pitch by the great majority in the stands at the South Stand End.

I accept that there were a number who booed, but only a small majority. Most of us were relieved to see a much improved performance that deserved a point at least.

Notorious/Dommy

I am afraid that the only people that are deluded are the folk like you that believe that PJ is 're-building' !

How is he doing that ? - We have a side full of players that are on their last legs, how is this building a team for the future ?

What Norwich & Southampton have done is 're-build', what PJ is doing is 10 times worse than Keano did and look at the way fans turned on him. I never saw a Roy Keane side get beaten 7 games (and counting) in a row, I never saw a Keano side get beaten 5-1, 7-1, 5-2, and throwing in the towel as often as they have under PJ.

Wake up mate, even if by some miracle we did go up, with a squad full of players on the brink of retirement, where would that leave us ?

Sake Jewell, appoint a young & upcoming hungry manager that that will buy young/hungry players (cresswells of this world) and then the fans would accept the club going through a few seasons of medicority whilst they are re-building. At least they can see where the money is going! All i see at the minute is it going to over aged, over rated and over paid waste of spaces that aint EVER going to take the club I love forward! - These are all PJ's doing and he needs to pay the price.
