 Tuesday, 27th Dec 2011 13:02 Town goalscorer Lee Bowyer said striker Jason Scotland admitted that the ball hit his hand in the incident which led to Leicester’s penalty in the 1-1 Boxing Day draw at the King Power Stadium. Bowyer said: “I was on the wrong side to see it but Jason admits he did catch it with his hand. “He didn’t mean to though, obviously, no one is silly enough to do that in their own box. Without the penalty, I don’t think they would have scored.” The veteran midfielder thought Paul Konchesky should have been red-carded for the foul on Lee Martin, which led to Town's spotkick: “He should have been sent off. The referee said [Lee] was going away from goal, but his touch wasn’t even that far out of his feet and he’s on the penalty spot. I just can’t see how it’s not a red card." Bowyer says the Blues are starting to move in the right direction having achieved creditable results against a number of the division's fancied sides: “We’ve been to Middlesbrough, Cardiff, West Ham and now Leicester and could have won at all four.” Boss Paul Jewell said Michael Chopra was the man designated to take Town's penalties in the absence of regular taker Grant Leadbitter, but after the former Cardiff man missed someone else will be getting the job: “He didn’t hit it very well and the keeper made a decent save. Chopra’s on the penalties, but he won’t get the next one, if we ever get one!" Coincidentally, Town’s most recent previous penalty was also at Leicester on the final day of last season.
