Jewell: Stevenson Showing Right Attitude
Jewell: Stevenson Showing Right Attitude
Thursday, 9th Feb 2012 15:16

Blues boss Paul Jewell says he’s been impressed with the attitude shown by new signing Ryan Stevenson since he has been at the club. The £50,000 January addition from Hearts played his first game in a Town shirt as the reserves beat Leyton Orient 4-1 at Playford Road on Tuesday.

Jewell said: “He did OK. I think he was blowing a bit because it was his first game since December 17th.

“He’s a terrific lad, he’s got a great attitude, he knows he’s got to be patient, but I’ve been really impressed with his attitude. He’s delighted to be here and it’s good to see.”

The 27-year-old played the role between the main striker and the midfield for the reserves but Jewell says the former St Johnstone and Ayr man is very versatile: “He can play in a number of positions. We were having a look at him [in that role] and it was good for him to get 70 minutes under his belt.

“I think he’s getting an Ipswich tattoo, if there’s any room left on his body!” joked the Blues boss, adding, “He’s a terrific lad, he’s really determined to prove himself here.”

Mr jewell says Ryan is versatile and can play in a number of positions, how about right centre back or even right back so that the very talented fit and versatile Carlos Edwards can do a' Ronaldo' and worry opposing left backs and feeding 'Chops'?!

@sindre. Agree with you. Lets see what he has to offer. Big price tags doesnt mean big player. Heart & desire with some ability will get itfc moving upwards again imo.

On the bench instead of Leadbitter yet?
I wonder if Boro would take Leadbitter in a swap for McManas!?

sounds like an ideal replacement for murphy or to compete with martin for that free role behind pork chops.

Please put in an offer to bring back haynes and stead! Under the right guidance Haynes could be quality, destroying teams with his pace in the last 15 minutes and at only 24 fits the criteria were looking for. Stead also only 28 and gives his all every game, not forgetting that he scored 9 in his final season at us. And if your feeling like going back on the past possibly a cheeky 4 million bid for dos santos ;) what? we can dream!

Not a replacement for murphy, we should try and keep him after his loan deal is up. It's good we might have competition for players. He sounds a good player, I'm sure he will win his place In the team soon.
