Scotland Signs New Deal
Scotland Signs New Deal
Friday, 6th Jul 2012 06:00

Town boss Paul Jewell has confirmed that striker Jason Scotland has signed his new one-year contract with the club. The 33-year-old, whose previous terms were up at the weekend, joined the rest of the squad for the start of pre-season training yesterday.

Jewell said: “The bad news is that Jason has signed his contract. It was always going to be done, it was just a matter of timing really.

“Jason knows he’s not going to start and finish every game but I think he got 10 goals for us last season and he’s an impact player.

“He can come on and change a game or have an effect on a game. Or he can start, but he’s not going to last 90 minutes every week. We know that, he knows that, and we will be looking to bring another centre forward in.”

Great news, did well for us last season and will be a good squad player this year. Showed his committment by waving his right to a contract extension at the end of last season.

"Bad news"= a humourous comment.

Perhaps I watch too much X Factor, "The bad news is.........(pauses for dramatic effect).....you will have to cancel that holiday. You are in the final 1000". Cue tears, hugs, smug smiles to camera and "I am... like so. ...pleased. This means everything to me" quotes.

Excellent. He is an impact player - several times last season he's come on and got vital late goals (Leeds, Southampton, Doncaster) and he always put in a good stint.

Good lad. Got absolutely hammered by us lot during/after his first season, but now he's a big fan favourite!

Another 7-10 goals from him would be fantastic next season. Let's hope Chopra can get nearer 20 and I fancy JET to get a good 10-12.

For me this is the best piece of business Ipswich town will do. Fantastic player , very intelligent very strong and also composed 1 on 1. I think even off the bench he can do a great job for ipswich.

This is very good news. He often creates his own opportunities through using his strength and skill...and has a great shot for the end result.

Good news. Now lets forget about Fuller and sign a decent, pacey player instead. It is still worrying that we only have two strikers.

Scotland has been an excellent signing.

He's a good player, but come on, if people are getting excited about re signing a 33 year old I'm afraid I can't.

Jason Scotland wont get us promoted, end of.

That said he is a good squad player who will be good coming off the bench as an impact player which he was effective at the back end of last season.
