Chambers at Town to Complete Move Monday, 9th Jul 2012 11:18
TWTD understands that former Nottingham Forest central defender Luke Chambers is at Town this morning as he looks to complete his Bosman free transfer to the Blues. The 26-year-old was at the club last Tuesday to undergo a medical and to look around the ground and training facilities but with his representative out of the country, returned to the Midlands without signing on the dotted line.
Former Northampton man Chambers is expected to sign a three-year deal at Portman Road, although newspaper claims that he will be doubling his wages to almost ÂŁ16,000 a week were wide of the mark.
TWTD reported that Chambers would be back at Portman Road today to complete his move on Saturday.

great signing if it happens! Chambers and Smith would be a solid CB pairing, just need an established and experienced keeper behind them now! Good to see things on the move :)

This will be an excellent signing. Some one to organise smith or delaney. Hope Paul makes him captain in due course. he certainly has the qualities. Now for a solid keeper please. Still think we nned to fork out and get Loach in. he wants to play for us and has plenty of experience in this division.Somewhere along the lines we have to pay a fee to bring in quality.

Great news!! Has anyone read the Garry Birtles interview about him and want to enlighten me on why he hates us so much???

Chambers was one of the Championships best defenders until last season, but I have read that he had alot of family/personal issues last year, which was compounded by the problems that Forest as a club had on and off the pitch. I think starting a fresh at Ipswich will rekindle his previous form and status. Alot of the Forest fans criticising him won't be taking the abovementioned into account, plus his comments in the press have upset them and there is an element of sour grapes (like some of us with Norris and McAuley). I think that Chambers alongside somebody like Keogh would make us very robust at the back. Then have Tommy Smith pushing them for a starting berth.

How DARE he invite a player to look around while his agent was away. How unprofessional. Clegg out! </SARCASM>

Firstly he hasn't signed ..YET! so wait til he does. Secondly If he does sign, I fully expect all the people slagging off Clegg/PJ/ME for not getting THIS particular deal done last week to put out a full retraction and apology on this page! You woud expect them to do the same if the roles were reversed.

This about the third time we have celebrated Chambers appearing to be about to sign, only for doubt and delays. I would love it if he would sign today, as it's nearly a week since he passed a medical here. A great signing if it happens, but I'll keep the champagne on ice for now.

i think he will do OK for us, he won't get us promotion single handedly though and I need at least a 3 - 4 more singings to be made.

flouncemaker Just a heads up mate, he has none of the qualities needed to be captain, keep the armband away from him and you've got a decent ch, but believe me this aint no sour grapes, he is not captain material.
