Edu Plays Down Town Speculation
Tuesday, 14th Aug 2012 16:35

Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu has played down speculation that he’s close to completing a move to the Blues. The 26-year-old US international is currently in Mexico ahead of a friendly against the Central Americans on Wednesday.

Edu, who appears to suggest that reports he was in talks with the Blues at the weekend were incorrect, isn’t ruling out a move to Town but told Goal.com that he’s not up to speed regarding discussions between the teams: “I know about the club, but I’m not too aware of anything that’s going on [with negotiations] to be honest. Once I came over here was when all that talk started.

“Every time that I come into a national team camp I just try to focus on that. I let my agent handle all that stuff, that’s what he’s there for, and once I head back to Europe then I’ll turn my attention back to there and try to get that sorted.”

With his Rangers exit certain, the former Toronto FC man says he wouldn’t be averse to joining another British club: “I’m pretty open to be honest. I’ve been in the UK for a while now, so I’m pretty used to that game. But I’m pretty open to most situations.”

Still hope he comes and that his agent has been in negotiations with Clegg and Evans. He sounds open to the idea of coming here and knew that we are interested in him. Good signs I hope. Looking forward to the game tonight. COYB!!!

Does this suggest something could be on? It's just how he talks of his agent handling negotiations (as they do) and suggests that once he gets back he will get that sorted, people always play down speculation about where they might be heading unless they're Arsenal players!

it's so hard to call these situations, but if he is aware of our interest that at the very least the agent has been willing to discuss terms with us! looking forward to tonight and really looking forward to Saturday

As much as this would be an excellent signing, do you really think we stand any chance....A highly rated international would surely go to a far bigger club than us!!

blah blah blah. Same old , same old for Ipswich Town , when it comes to signing players these days it seems. All becoming very , very boring now.

Tbh I love how the transfer storys go. If Phil didn't put all the info on here that he does none of us would know half of what goes on, and I think this way is alot better than checking other Ipswich related sites as twtd gives more information? So surely that would be more boring..

Bum. A bit like realising Cameron Diaz was never interested in me either.

I can't help feeling that he saying if nothing better comes up then he'd come here rather than stay at Rangers ... but is till hoping for someone a little "better".

Still, either way, onwards and upwards - COYB

@Cornishnick - the problem arises when you are told that Cameron Diaz is interested and is coming down for a possible date from a third party (Scottish paper) to not show up and to find out she is in a 'shoot' in Mexico only to distance herself from us (The Elephant man). The Elephant Man can only dream of such a date.

Oscarwhiting: if u care to look at my posts you wiuld see that I am not one of the many habitual moaners on here. However with this latest possible transfer, I find it is becoming more inevitable that it will go the same way as the Ward, Davise, and Sharp sagas. It just beomes tedious. Would have answered ur post earlier but I was down at PR supporting the team - who played excellent btw !
