Town Linked With New St Ledger Move
Thursday, 30th Aug 2012 15:21

Town are reported to have renewed their interest in Leicester City central defender Sean St Ledger.

The Blues were close to landing the Republic of Ireland international in January before the Foxes pulled the plug on the switch.

Now, Town boss Paul Jewell is said to be ready to make a new move for the former Peterborough and Preston man.

St Ledger, who is 5ft 11in tall, was transfer-listed by Leicester following a row with manager Nigel Pearson after he was omitted from their side taking on the Blues on Boxing Day, but subsequently regained a place in their side.

However, his only appearance so far this season came in the 4-2 Capital One Cup defeat to Burton Albion on Tuesday.

The Birmingham-born defender signed a three-year deal at Leicester last summer after making a £1.2 million move from Preston, having started his career with Peterborough and having had a loan spell at Middlesbrough during his five years at Deepdale.

St Ledger has been capped 30 times by Ireland, scoring three goals, and was a regular in their side at Euro 2012.

Meanwhile, Jordan Rhodes has completed his switch from Huddersfield to Blackburn.

We could well be left with Smith & Chambers as number one pairing at C/Bs, forwards in other championship sides can't wait to play against these two donkeys, nine goals in four games work that out for a season

@bennyitfc - the kitchen was delivered, the fitters turned up, but then Cleggy tried to offer 20% less on the price and everything went back to Ikea...

Anyone know of anything about Brett Pittman leaving Bristol?

Hang on... He's an ex Peterboro' player
That can only mean he's just come down for a FREE lunch and a medical health check at the clinic.
Then around midnight call us to say we haven't covered his travelling costs.

Right its probably not financially viable but anyone think david bentley would be a decent signing?

heard ITFC have put an ad out in the Evening star looking for players in the local area. The only thing they're asking for is that you can tie your own shoelaces. The ability to kick a football is optional.

Ive followed the comments on here since the site started and agreed with some and laughed at most. The one thing that all Town fans must agree on is weve become a joke. The once proud club who competed against the best in europe who supplied 2 England managers and numerous international players has become a club thats just makes up the numbers. My advice to Jewel, Clegg etc is keep yer mouth shut until a deal is signed and done. Too many times have i read that a player is on his way only to be told he's signed for someone else. Sadly ITFC is not the attractive propersition it used to be i used moan that the Cobbolds never had ambition god how i wish they were still at the helm. My club has been stolen from me its like Marcus Evans it has no identity.
I will always be Town fan its in me blood but i will not pay my money to line the pockets of the muppets in charge.

you are right in some aspects there bob, but dont think we "make up the numbers" through lack of trying, more lack of experiance (ME and SC, although smart men, didnt know footballs inner workings) and magilton had no idea how to use the money givin, being a rookie manager at the time. agree that portman road has lost its identidty, the old pr of the late 90s used to rattle, hardly regqoqnise it now, felt so streile and cold. what worries me is the fans pay premium prices for an iferior product, and it can only be downhill from there. as for the transfere dealings, no-one knows what gos on in the negotiations, but really dont think its a coincedence that we pay the lowest in agent fees and most of our targets go elsewhere. think a massive reality check is needed from everybody involved at the club. the cobbolds and dave sheepshanks where in touch with the fansand community. they saw what we saw. the current adminastration do not. a trip to the grass roots is what is needed

Would welcome him but that would mean two short centre backs --- we will be too vulnerable on set pieces. 6FT plus is a must....

Reading some of the comments on this thread one thing is apparent, as upset as we all are about this and that going tits up, we still have our sense of humour, hopefully the club cant take that away. loved the one about Cleggs wife and the kitchen, brilliant....

Cheer up will soon be sat and we havent got to watch Rhodes score a hatrick against us......COYB

Bob7881 I agree with your comments regarding becoming a joke. However, most of the disappointment is caused by the internet. In the past we would read stories in the press or local radio/TV. Now information (or lack of it) appears instantaneously. A player only has to fart and we know about it!

@Dissboyitfc - I loved the one about St Ledger "Call him first.......see if he wants more than £200 a week"

I simply could not stop laughing about this one and I still am

I admire ME and SC for trying to slash the wage bill. It WILL BE DEFINITELY a sign of things to come for all football league clubs in the next 12-24 months, AND I feel some sympathy for PJ as he has worked his socks off trying to get players in all summer long with little reward.

I haven't lost all hope yet but if we don't sign anyone else permanently by 11pm tomorrow I will start to worry AND this should be a message for all ITFC targets that the Club won't be held to ransom!

This won't happen, as mentioned didn't want to come here before why would he at the last second of this window closing?...unless we're offering him £210 a week.
