Trialist at Town
Trialist at Town
Tuesday, 11th Sep 2012 09:04

A mystery trialist is reported to have joined the Blues for the week as Paul Jewell continues his attempts to strengthen his central defensive options.

Southend’s Bilel Mohsni spent last week training at Playford Road, impressing and scoring in the 6-0 U21s thrashing of Cardiff City.

Weekend reports in Essex that Mohsni was due to talk to the Blues on Sunday were wide of the mark and Town look likely to wait to see how the situation develops with their preferred targets — Stoke’s Matthew Upson being high up on the list and QPR's Clint Hill is understood to have been the subject of a recent enquiry — before taking the matter further.

Mohsni was subsequently quoted as saying he was waiting to talk to the Blues regarding the outcome of his trial.

Trialists tend to come and go regularly - prior to Mohsni, Cameroonian Yann Songo’o spent time at Playford Road and Spanish keeper Aleix Manzano was at the club last week — often sent over on spec by agents with the club knowing little about them.

Take Mohsni on trial, Mohsni rips it, get rid of Mohsni because we want fatcat Upson?!?

Nonsense - sign Mohsni up already!

Although Upson & Hill are experienced, sometimes you have to take a 'punt' for the future I say give Mohsni a go and leave the old guys where they are!!!!

wasnt clint hill qpr's player of the season last year? i know they got in another teamsworth of players but getting him in would prove hard.

makes me wonder if the Mohsni situation isnt good if we are trialing someone else.

Mohsni is a risk with his on/off field antics and could be a disruptive influence in the changing room. A talented player but very temperamental by the sound of things.

I can see us not getting anyone, there is no way we can last with only 2 centre backs

The mystery trialist is CRAZEE...he's at a bit of a loose end now his charity work is completed.
Should fit in well with the proud ITFC tradition of having a cart horse at the back.....apparantly he will be wearing the name "Linighan" on his oversize shirt.

Is it definitely a central defender on trial?
Could PJ be taking a look at a fellow scouser?

Could be interesting...

We're crying out for experience and a communicator to help a young back line, so Upson or HIll would be solid in my opinion, though the lack of pace would be the only thing that worries me. Moshni's would probably be more flamboyant but just as effective so it depends what PJ wants, Moshni and another defender would be ideal.

Maybe they haven't found one who they think is good enough, affordable and available

MattinLondon what a stupid thing to say you have just admitted how useless this lot are.
He had 1.5 m for Taylor so thats rubbish ,good enough well how is it he has suddenly come across this player.
And available just look at the signings from other championship sides so there all bad judges of players are they!!!!!!!
For goodness sake Jewell has had nearly 2 years to get in suitable CBs still nothing.

£25-35 for a ticket, to watch loan players from Div 2. Your havin' a laugh ain't ya Clegg?

Walberswick.

£25-£30 for a ticket. That implies you obviously don't have a season ticket, am I correct? That IS NOT a pop before anyone suggests otherwise (it isn't cheap etc etc), but it does allow me to state that armchair supporters carry less weight with their opinions than those that watch every game.

I think that's a fair fact, and I would say the same if the roles were reversed

Truth hurts - failed logic and not a fact let alone a fair one!

Everyone has an opinion and weighting is the same - whether you agree or not is why forums such as these are great. I don't agree with Walberwicks view to 'sack em all' but understand that both season ticket holders and those that buy match day tickets are not getting VFM and haven't been for some time.

"armchair supporters carry less weight with their opinions than those that watch every game."

What about those who go to every game but still don't really understand what they're watching. There was an old lady who would sit there and say 'oh dear' all the way through the game, every game.

That was it- her contribution.

But by your reasoning she's a bit of an expert cos she was always there.

I think my point was missed somewhat. It wasn't my intention to ruffle feathers as such. I agree it may not be value for money - that wasn't the argument was it!?

I also know you get some so-called idiots sat in the stands every other week.

I was merely stating that I find it hard to accept points - in any walk of life - whereby the person suggesting them simply doesn't have the said experience. By not going to games (your decision) there lies the fact behind my argument.

It's all well and good saying we should do this, he should do that etc etc etc. I'm simply saying leave it to the experts. None of you on here - myself included - could do a better job. Another fact I'm afraid

truthhurts, so are you saying the people currently running the club are experts becuase thats not the case from were I watch the town every week.

We've got a guy that owns the club thats a ticket tout and a cheif exec who knows how to throw a decent javelin, hardly a formidable football pedigree.

Another example of these "experts" is the fact that we currently have ONE central defender training at the club whilst the other is halfway accross the world playing Tahiti or whoever they are and is ordinary at best!

What I find absolutely astonishing is, mid September, we are having the same conversation about centre backs as we did at the start of the summer, unbeleivable. Anyone telling me there isn't a couple of decent centre backs in the lower league??!! I just find it incredible we are scrabbing around, yet agin, in the loan market for a reserve 34 year old centre back from Stoke and a player kicked out by the mighty Southend. These "experts" who keep blagging to us that they are ambitous and want premiership football are hardly demonstrating such ambition. I find it all incredibly frustrating. I'm not an "expert" but even I can see we are ordinary at best at the back. The rest of the squad are improving with the signings that we made looking good which makes the blindingly obvious centre back issue even more frustrating.

Anyway time to watch England, oh look another so called "expert" is on there, Roy Keane!!

Like it or not the people running the club are more able than people on here, including myself obviously. Maybe not a popular idea, but trueful nonetheless. I'm not blind to any short comings but, honestly, do you really think no one has tried signing certain players. Come on, of course they have.

Are you therefore saying you would trust a random over a doctor just becaise they watch casualty!!
