Jewell Says Goodbyes Thursday, 25th Oct 2012 14:22 Departing Blues boss Paul Jewell said his goodbyes at Portman Road this morning, still frustrated that things didn’t work out for him at Town. The Liverpudlian’s time as manager of the Blues was ended by mutual consent on Wednesday. Speaking in a lengthy interview with Ipswich Player, he said: “I’m gutted it hasn’t worked out and even now looking around the place, it’s so frustrating that it hasn’t worked out. “I could not have given any more because I was desperate to see Portman Road packed and the club being successful and it’s the right decision for me to leave.” He says he’s given Town a glowing reference to prospective successors: “I had a few managers on the phone to me yesterday and I told them don’t hesitate as the job is now available because it’s a great football club and I really hope the club goes on to great things because it deserves it. “Ipswich is also in very good hands with the owner. Marcus doesn’t interfere in any decisions football-wise and is right up there with the best chairmen I have worked with — and I have worked with some really good ones. “I know there might be some people out there knocking him but sometimes people need to be careful what they wish for. He’s 100 per cent committed to the club and wants success for Ipswich as much as anyone.”
