McCarthy Set for £1m Bonus if Town Stay Up
Wednesday, 31st Oct 2012 08:58

Incoming Blues boss Mick McCarthy is understood to be set to earn £1 million-a-year at Town, plus another £1 million bonus if he keeps the Blues in the Championship this season. The Blues currently sit bottom of the division, five points from safety having failed to win in their last 12 matches.

As reported yesterday, McCarthy, his Wolves assistant Terry Connor and ex-Blues skipper Matt Holland are set to be confirmed as the new Town managerial team before the weekend.

A press conference to unveil the new team appears likely to take place on Thursday, although nothing has yet been officially announced.

Wow. That seems big money for a club that has stopped spending!

Money well spent!

Give him another £1m to get rid of the players that "Don't Care" as well!

Great Negotiation, I was asking myself why he would want to come to Ipswich and now we know- Money

Its fairly simple - and makes sense - if we went down the loss in revuenue to the club would be way more than 1 million

Should have been sorted out in the 2wk. international break, instead of Jewellio hanging on, so it now leaves a new manager just 2 days to prepare for 3 very important games in a week 2 of them away !!!!

Mind you what a bonus to be able to finish the season with a minimum of 4th bottom !!!
or does it mean top six ??????? COYBs !!!!!!

Being realistic this overhaul will take longer than this season. Relegation may be the price of the previous errors going back 8 years. Joe Royle said give me a million and i will get you promoted. Now its going to be 20 million or more?

I'm pretty sure that would have been offered to any incoming manager just because of our current position.... Good luck BIG Mick :)

Worst Appointmnet ever.

would rather spend 500K on getting holloway and 500K on giving him a sign on.

We have a new maganger and a fantastic asssitant and people on here are still bitching!!
How the hell do people know that Holloway would even come?
And how the hell can it be the worst appoitment ever?
Jeez some people on here might as well go support the scum up the road with all the moaning they do!

Said it before and I will say it again, we are bottom of the league and do not have the time for any fancy football at the moment. What I would give for a boring 1-0 win at the moment, does make me wonder if some of these posters have actually seen how bad the team is performing at the moment.

The fans have to do there bit and get behind the team from now onwards

So much for being a club that hasn't got money.....1million for staying up....that sends a great message out to any new players that come in that they can also demand stupidly large bonuses if we stay up.......(personally I think we will find that this is way off beam.....why put a salary cap of 10k on your players then bring a manager in on twice as much as this and on a bonus worth two times a players yearly salary.......great motivational tool NOT..If ME has got his head screwed on this just doesn't happen)....and if true got to also then question why this info gets released....either way its pressure that the club doesn't need.....win at brum on Saturday ...that'll make the job easier and lessen the need for a large bonus!!!! No wonder He's Smiling.... They should have spiced it up though... He coughs up a million if we go down.

He will sort out the bad apples though and that is badly needed. If you look at the ones that went out on the p**s the day Jewell was sacked i would guess that would contain most of them!!!

We all want to do well and stay up but 100% of salary as a bonus just for survival ? How does this effect the FFP that Clegg was enforcing 2 years too early . Does that mean player reduction ? More spending reductions ? I bet Clegg is gambling on higher attendances to provide the money .
Mickey Mac is going to have to be a miracle worker , starting by sorting out our big headed tweeters . I wish him and his team the best of luck . COYB.
