Hyam Will Start Against Forest
Monday, 26th Nov 2012 10:06

Blues boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed that Luke Hyam will replace Nigel Reo-Coker when Town take on Nottingham Forest at Portman Road on Tuesday evening (KO 7.45pm). Reo-Coker suffered a hamstring problem during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Peterborough.

McCarthy says Reo-Coker’s condition will be checked out more closely today: “They’ll look at him again this morning.

“They didn’t think it was as bad as they first thought, but he has no chance for tomorrow and I would think no chance for the weekend. I hate ruling people out, let him get assessed this morning and we’ll know a bit better.”

The Blues boss says 21-year-old Hyam, who came on as a sub on Saturday, will be in Tuesday’s team from the off: “He got a lovely reception and I hope he gets a lovely reception on Tuesday night when he starts.”

Midfielder Guirane N’Daw suffered a cut to the head against Posh but McCarthy says the Senegalese international isn’t considered a doubt: “I saw him yesterday but he was struggling to see me!

“But he’s fine, I’m certain he’ll be OK. I thought he was excellent the other day, he continued to battle, he was great.”

Aside from that, McCarthy says the rest of the squad are fit with the exception of Paul Taylor, who is expected to miss the season having undergone foot surgery: “A few bumps and bruises but they’ll all be fine.”

The Town manager says new loan signing Tyrone Barnett will come into the squad and had praise for keeper Stephen Henderson, who looks set to keep his place in goal.”

Great news, really hope Hyamhas a blinder these next two or three games while Reo-Coker is out and finally cements a permanent place in the team!

Fans should not wish players to be out for the season.

If they play badly they should be dropped. If they continue to be picked then criticise the manager, but don't ever say you want them to be injured.
We need to pull together and get behind the team. We have a big squad and a good manager... we need to get the team out of their "rabbit in the headlamps mentality" and playing for us. We wont do that by welcoming the fact that one of them is injured.

Reo Choker more like ,passes the ball straight into touch had no idea where his team mates were never tracked back ,just not fit enough , have no clue how he managed to strain something ? I hope he fully recovers and tries to fight for his place to actually help us . Hyam good luck buddy this is your time and chance take it you can do it .Saturday first half was the worst i have seen Ipswich play in 40 years so good luck Mick as well you have a huge job . Forest will be a big test , at least lets get some fight and spirit in the team we can do it !!

I hope Barnett starts on Tuesday. Luke deserves his start - and I wonder if we have seen the last of NRC?

NRC - No real class - needs to get fit , never the best passer of a ball but could break up play and move forward - until he gets fit he is not an asset . Some ex Prem players you can still see their class even if unfit - Reo Joker has nothing to add at present

At least Reo-Coker is out
He was truly awful on Saturday

Reo-Coker is dire anyway. Just drop him completely. In a team where we give the ball away so softly so often, he is hardly what is needed.

Great, I really like Hyam. Want him on my shirt! He has all the right attributes for a CM, unlike Reo-joker. He can tackle, he finds the right pass and doesn't always pass backwards either! Forest will be a tricky game, but we shall not fear anybody if we want to stay up. COYB!

jon456. what the hell are you on about? or were you not at the game on saturday. hengerson had by far his best game. and if it wasnt for him wed have lost the match. at least if youre going to criticise some1 at least have a valid reason to do so. or if you were there i can only guess you were one of the morons slagging him off at halftime for daring to encourage the crowd to get behind the team

good to see Luke getting another opportunity. Its a shame that the shambolic state the club is in will pile a lot of pressure on a young player.Good luck Luke lets hope your team mates get it together and show some fight . COYB
