McGoldrick: Crazy 24 Hours
Friday, 4th Jan 2013 14:09

David McGoldrick says he’s known about Town’s interest in him for a while, but that in the end his loan switch from Nottingham Forest came about very quickly. McGoldrick, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Coventry, has moved to Portman Road on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent move.

The 25-year-old told the club site: “It feels great to be an Ipswich Town player and everyone knows it’s a big club.

“The chance to come and play for a club of Ipswich’s size and under a manager like Mick McCarthy was something that I just couldn’t turn down and I’m delighted to be here.

“I’m glad that the deal is finally done and I’m looking forward to getting to know all the lads and getting my Ipswich career started.

“I’d known about Mick’s interest for a while, but then I went back to Forest from my loan spell at Coventry and I thought I would be staying there.

“Then I got the call to come down to Ipswich and the next day I had signed, passed my medical and was training with the boys. It’s been a crazy 24 hours but I’m just happy that it’s all done now.”

Richard Logan!
I remember him, jeebus he does look similar. He also looks like an NBA basketball player, cant remember the name though.

Great signing, an on form goalscorer!

I've just been on a Forest forum and they are fairly unanimous that they are glad to see the back of him. I can really understand why though - and I bet Coventry fans are upset at losing him

He must be full of confidence right now. Welcome to Town David

This guy is a friend of mines 2nd cousin or something, so an interesting singing to say the least. League1 top goalscorer i beleive so a great signing, shame not permanent although im guessing its a loan to see how well he does first, in which case good work all involved

Good to see us doing deals that seem to stay under the radar of speculation & don't go on forever & then ultimately fall through

NITFC - im not sure what forum youre on, i live in Notts and my mates are all forest fans, they arent happy, and the forum they use says things like.....

''Yet another decent player who will go on a free as his contract runs out...''
''He just needed time, never got a decent run in our side. Good luck to the lad always liked him.''
''He'll get promoted with Ipswich next season. Mark my words.''
''Bit disappointed with this to be honest. Firstly, that McLeish hasn't even bothered to give him a chance and secondly because he had come back from Coventry in good goalscoring form. ''

there are some people who are saying 'not bothered' but nothing very negative. They seem more bitter about the fact he earns a reported £10k a week and cost them a Million Quid......

David, If you're reading this, here is a tip on how to be an instant success at Town.

Make your debut against Cardiff, use both hands to push the ball the ball into the net and then go on to average a goal every 1.5 games. That's what I told DJ to do. Foolproof.

Good signing, he must be confident right now in front of goal which is exactly the type of player I'd hope we'd go for....my only problem is that if he does well for us then Forest might decide to keep him or other Clubs will then come sniffing..

Buy playing who are confident, eager and inform is my view, Peterborough do this with lower league players and you can't argue against it...

strikalite his contract runs out in the summer at Forest so we will have the first option on signing him if he does well. This lad has been banging them in for fun in League 1 for Coventry and without his goals they will struggle. Its about blinking time that we have picked up a decent striker in some good form and who is obviously hungry to do well and wont be here for a final pay day. Great work from all those involved in bringing him to Portman Road and he will score plenty of goals for us in the games to come. My mate is a Coventry fan and he is absolutely gutted!

In form striker, only 25yo, on a loan with a view to permanent if he proves himself - great work everyone involved and he thinks it was a crazy 24 hours, I was expecting at least another fortnight before he signed!

I have been an Ipswich fan for nearly 40 years - and have been so impressed with MM with what he has done so far - and here we have a couple of more signings that didnt get strung along keeping us fans waiting for news - as previously said on other forums - BANG signed - and no media hype beforehand.
So good to see a manager do his job so well
Well done MM on this and our other recent signings
Would love to see an upset tomorrow - COYB!!

Let's not forget what DJ has done for us though - let's hope he returns anyway.

I'm sure when Roy and Paul were our managers the A14 and the A12 were 100 miles longer.
