Scunthorpe Weighing Up Ellington Extension Monday, 7th Jan 2013 12:48 Scunthorpe boss Brian Laws is set to decide whether to extend Nathan Ellington’s loan at Glanford Park in the next 48 hours. The 31-year-old’s spell with the Iron was up after Saturday’s 0-0 home draw with Shrewsbury.
Laws said: "I said to him that we needed a performance from him. Nathan's been hit and miss really, to be honest.
"We needed a performance for us to see whether we continue with the loan or not. That's something we'll talk about over the next few days, depending as well on what our thoughts are about recruitment in the next week or so."
Saturday’s game was only Ellington’s second start since he moved to the League One club in November with a calf problem having hampered his time in Lincolnshire.
In addition to his two starts, the striker, whose Town contract is up in the summer, has made four substitute appearances, without scoring.

"I read somewhere that Laws isn't keen on him." I think I read that in the above article. They wanted a performance and evidently they didnt get one. They will talk about it in the next few days, when they will look at what better options they can get.

I think a mutual termination (if one can be arrived at) is best for all parties, it doesn't sound like he's wanted back at Scunthorpe and why would they want a striker who can't score? We don't need him and with the striking options we now have, all ahead of him I really can't see him playing another game for us.

Completely usuless, even apparently at Scunny;so looks like he will be coming back.Apart from Ingimarsson probably PJ's worst signing..

To think of the players we've decided to terminate in recent years like Delaney, Trotter and Garvan who could still do a very good job for us and we've still got this numpty on our books makes me feel sick.

I've heard Bristol Rovers are keen to take him back to help with their relegation fight.

I dont think he is quite at championship quality at the moment. Plus if we have him back when all strikers are back we will have around 6/7 strikers- too many in my opinion.

The only extension we need to be considering is the length of the barge pole we wont be touching him with........
