McGoldrick and Mclean Start at Cardiff
Saturday, 12th Jan 2013 14:12

Town boss Mick McCarthy has handed David McGoldrick and Aaron Mclean their full Blues debuts at Cardiff today. Luke Hyam is in for Nigel Reo-Coker in midfield with Scott Loach in goal for the injured Stephen Henderson, the Town manager making four changes from the team which lost to Brighton in their last league game on New Year’s Day.

This week’s new signing Frank Nouble is on the bench, alongside Patrick Kisnorbo and ex-Cardiff man Michael Chopra.

There is no place on the bench for Reo-Coker, whose short-term deal with the Blues is up after today's game. Full match preview here.

Cardiff: Marshall, Taylor, Hudson (c), Turner, Connolly, Noone, Whittingham, Gunnarsson, Conway, Gestede, Bellamy. Subs: Lewis, McNaughton, Cowie, Smith, Kim, Mason, Helguson.

Town: Loach, Orr, Chambers, Smith, Cresswell, Edwards (c), Hyam, N'Daw, Martin, Mclean, McGoldrick. Subs: Lee-Barrett, Hewitt, Kisnorbo, Drury, Murphy, Chopra, Nouble.

Well done Mick, spot on. Chopra, Reo-Cocker and Murphy on the bench are all the right moves. COYB

Do we take this to mean NRC isn't signing a contract extension?

Good chance for new boys to impress. It worries me what this must be doing to chopra's morale. As a fan it looks like he just isn't doing enough off the pitch.

I like the look of this starting 11. A good potential new strike pairing. Pleased to see hyam back in too. Going to be a tough game though for sure. COYB

P.s that has to be the strongest bench we've had in a long time, a lot of options for Mick if things aren't going well!

Two pacey strikers up top, which I prefer if i'm honest. Glad Hyam can get his chance and as for JET, he's just a hit or miss. COYB!

Let us hope this strike partnership gels from the word go but if not there is still hope for JC. Have just watched the QPR game and he sat on the bench throughout and according to the statistics QPR only had 1 shot on target, was genuinely surprised our 'Arry didn't give him a run out, so there is still hope!
