New MDs Delighted to Be Working at Town
Thursday, 7th Feb 2013 18:44

New joint-managing directors Ian Milne and Jonathan Symonds say they are delighted to have taken on their new roles working at Town on a day-to-day basis. The duo, who are effectively replacing departed chief executive Simon Clegg, joined the board of the club after Marcus Evans’s takeover at Portman Road at the end of 2007.

Milne told the club site: “Both Jonathan and myself are delighted to be at what is a fantastic football club and we really looking forward to getting to know the staff and the way the club operates.

“We have been involved with Ipswich as board members for five years but now have the opportunity to work on the ‘inside’ on a daily basis and it’s a challenge we are really looking forward to.

“We will be speaking to the supporters in time and getting feedback from them but our main objective initially is to speak to the staff here, both on the football side and the administration side, and learn from them as we look to take the club forward.”

Both grew up supporting Chelsea but Symonds says it’s an honour to be at Town: “We’re both big football fans and it’s a privilege to have this opportunity to work at such a well-respected club as Ipswich.

“Obviously results on the pitch have been disappointing over recent years but there are a lot of reasons to be positive about the future of the club.

“There is a terrific fanbase here for a start, as the manager has said, and it’s our job to look at anything and everything that can ultimately help bring success to Ipswich Town.”

I am not sure about two MDs, but let's see how they do. They can start by sorting out match day ticket prices and getting people back to Portman Road!

Dodgy owner, dodgy business and now these two. Would you buy a second hand car from them? No, but I'm sure they could get you a pair of cup final tickets. Hope I'm wrong, but I am not inspired.

One reminds you of a Bouncer (wouldn't mess with him) - the other a Dentist - but looks can be deceiving.

itfc1981 good call. Symonds reminds me of the late, great John Candy. Hence from this day forth it is Uncle Buck in charge at PR

h32 - they will never be true blues and lancs blue , absolutely right!

Doesn't this say it all about modern football. These faceless people have been on the Board for 5 years yet consider themselves to be on the "outside" and NOW say they are looking forward to talking to staff & supporters. So, a solicitor and IT manager sit on our Board for 5 f***ing years and don't talk to their own staff let alone the supporters of this apparently "fantastic" club. Why don't we give them a shirt so that they can kiss the badge too. Dear God.

One faceless corporate sycophant who turned out to be completely incompetent replaced by two faceless corporate sycophants who.....well, we'll see shall we. The upside? Well, when your entertainment, league position, entertainment and value for money "metrics" are the lowest in living memory, the only way is up. Don't worry chaps, I'm sure someone can lend you a video of the cup final so you can brush up on "the Ipswich way".

I sincerely hope they do well and put Town first. I am concerned they both supported Chelsea, you never really stop supporting your first football love; as most of ours were probably Town. I know you shouldn't live in the past but it was so much simpler when the Cobbolds owned the club, lived and breathed ITFC and were at every game; getting p*ssed on vintage port. Those Were The Days.....

wayway - absolutely criminal that he has never been offered anything by the Club (to my knowledge) - would be great to see him on the payroll in some capacity. TRUE BLUE - if ever there was one.
