Town Again Linked With Camp
Saturday, 18th May 2013 10:41

Town are again being linked with Northern Ireland international keeper Lee Camp. The 28-year-old held talks with the Blues in January but eventually joined Norwich City on a deal until the end of the season.

Blues boss Mick McCarthy is likely to be looking for at least one goalkeeper during the summer with Arran Lee-Barrett and Jason Brown having been released. Scott Loach is currently Town’s only senior glovesman.

Former Forest and Derby man Camp, who was also only offered a short-term deal by the Blues in January, has made only one start and two sub appearances since moving to Carrow Road, but has said he would consider staying on if extended terms were on offer.

Despite admitting he’d prefer to be playing more regularly, he said: "If circumstances are right and it ticked all the boxes it's something I'd look at.”

Oh no, not another Andy Marshall situation again please! We need total solidarty within the club to move forward which we are now close to achieving. We do not need a disruptive influence causing split loyalties among supporters. It doesn't matter how well he plays some sections will never accept him now he's been tainted with the yellow & green. Lets be honest, he wasn't a favourite before that. Every error will be greeted with a tirade of derision & abuse, not an ideal environment for your last line of defence to perform in. Lets look elsewhere.

at least it would mean getting a premier league standard keeper, what we need!!

Never want to see Camp in an Ipswich shirt. If he's not good enough for the scum he's no where close to good enough for us.
Loach is our man. Yes he has some short comings but he is improving all the time, he wants to be here and it matters to him that Ipswich do well.
Camp was offered a chance to come here and chose to go elsewhere for the money instead. If he was any good he would be at a premier league club.
Please Mick don't do it.

Loach certainly improved as the season went on, but as others have said, there are still concerns and it would also seem that MM is not overly convinced either. Loach is a decent shot stopper, but his handling and ability to control his area have been suspect.

We will clearly be signing a new keeper with Brown and ALB leaving the club. Camp is a good keeper, but cant see many fans taking to him after his decision to sit on the bench at Norwich, rather than play as No. 1 for us.

Good if you want to waste time starting from kick off

We need two keepers , we currently have 1 , and we need at least one of those to be pushing hard for a 1st team slot

we need 2 more keepers ,one of which needs to be pushing hard for 1st team

I can solve this equation in two words. These two words are Kieran and Westwood. Go buy him!

Oh dear! A lot of you are getting a bit touchy about the Norwich connection. You coped with Joe Royle didn't you?!!

Loach can make the goal keeping position his but we must have a decent experienced back-up. Camp ticks all the boxes in this respect and I certainly wouldn't have a problem with him being on the books....but then I've only been supporting town since 1962.

Absolutely not.

For me these anti Camp comments, even before we know if there is truth in the link, are anti Ipswich more than anti Norwich!! More time supporting Town less time booing Norwich would be good.

I don't think it's just anti Camp, its anti any player that does'nt want to come here for the right reasons. He's more or less stated that he'll stay put as third choice keeper if the deals right, not a player with any ambition to my mind. Booing Norwich is part of supporting Town and I'll spend all my time doing both.

The problems that will be caused with fans not accepting him will not be in any way helpful so let's get behind Loach and look for a 2nd choice elsewhere.

Seems pretty universal among us that we don't want him and being third in line at the scum it's no wonder!

Pazele your judgement on players always has been apalling. There is not much to choose between Loach and Henderson but for me Loach is the better as his distribution on the ball is better.

We weren't good enough a few months ago so nothing should have changed mick knows better than that anyway.hendo got loads of stick I didn't agree with that he went to west ham to be number 1 but if we did sign camp he deserves all the stick he'll get

Thanks but NO THANKS - he choose to be 3rd choice at Norwich, so let him keep warming their bench - not ours.

We don't want their rejects.

Henderson is better than loach but not by much people look at loach with there blue tinted glasses because he love ipswich. Both aren't great at distribution both good shot stoppers but hendo commands his box a lot better so hendo edges it for me but that's my opinion.

verulam -........ since 1962 - then you should know better than stating that Camp 'ticks all the boxes' .

I've only been following ITFC since 1972, so can't comment on the ten years beforehand - but I would put Camp a long way down the list of good 'keepers that I have seen. I wouldn't want to see him sign, and that has nothing to do with any Norwich connection

I really cant understand all this anti camp garbage on here purely down to fact he chose Norwich over us. he did what ne1 would have done in his position at the time. he had a choice of a short term here for a small amount of money compared to what he would have been offered for the same length of deal at Norwich. he didn't as 1 poster said go there as no3 as ruddy was injured and was out for most of the season frankly I don't care who hes played for before. if he signs for us and is better than loach(which he clearly is), then he will get my support and should get the support of every itfc fan. and before ne1 says im slagging loach, im not. he did ok towards the end of the season but his inability to command his area will end up costing us in the long run. as well as he did I don't go for this hes a town fan so he should play garbage.

I have Notts forest connections and he is regarded as a good keeper. However, the negative responses just show that an awful lot of supporters do not understand the professional game and are incapable of separating whats good for the team against green & yellow tinted glasses. GROW UP!
