Town Start Season at Reading Wednesday, 19th Jun 2013 09:00 Town will open their 2013/14 Championship campaign against newly-relegated Reading at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday 3rd August. Midfielder Jay Tabb will presumably be particularly looking forward to the game having left the Royals for the Blues this summer. The first home match of the season against Millwall will follow the midweek Capital One Cup tie at Stevenage. Town’s groundstaff will be delighted that the Blues start with two away games with the pitch growing back after work to improve drainage earlier in the summer. A tough-looking August continues with Mick McCarthy's men visiting QPR, Leeds making the trip to Portman Road and finally Town taking on Birmingham City away. After an international break, September begins with back-to-back home games, against Tony Mowbray’s Middlesbrough and Yeovil’s first league visit to Portman Road, before the long trip to the third relegated Premier League side, Wigan. The Blues visit Doncaster Rovers on Boxing Day and AFC Bournemouth on Sunday 29th December, while Charlton are at Portman Road on New Year’s Day. Town are at Watford on Easter Saturday with AFC Bournemouth visiting Portman Road on Easter Monday. The run-in sees the Blues end March with home games against Derby and Nottingham Forest before April matches against Blackburn and Huddersfield away, Doncaster at home, the Easter fixtures at Watford and at home to Bournemouth, then a visit to Burnley before the season ends on Saturday 3rd May when Sheffield Wednesday visit Portman Road. Town have been handed several lengthy midweek away trips including the games at Derby County (Tuesday 1st October), Leeds United (Tuesday 28th January), the Blues’ first-ever visit to Yeovil Town’s Huish Park (Tuesday 11th March) and Huddersfield Town (Tuesday 8th April).
