Manchester United Midfielder Linked
Wednesday, 24th Jul 2013 20:16

Town and Brighton are reported to have made approaches to Manchester United regarding the loan of midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe. The 20-year-old is believed to be available for loan once again having spent time at Peterborough United during 2011/12 and at Barnsley last season.

Heywood-born Tunnicliffe plays in central midfield, an area where the Blues would still appear to need cover.

An England U16 and U17 international, Tunnicliffe has made two sub appearances in the Capital One Cup for his parent club in addition to 15 senior starts and 18 games from the bench for his loan sides.

In April, Blues boss Mick McCarthy confirmed that he would utilise the loan market to augment his squad. Tunnicliffe played in United’s reserves’ 1-0 friendly victory over Club Brugge last week which was watched by the Town manager.

Meanwhile, the final 500 tickets have gone on sale for the opening game of the season away at Reading on Saturday 3rd August via the club’s new ITFC Direct website. Town's following at the Madejski Stadium is likely to number around 2,000.

A central midfielder? How many more do we need? Where are the wide players at?

I'd actually be satisfied if we didn't sign a single loan player before the season starts, and just used them to cover injuries throughout the season. The right loan players with a view to permanent moves are okay, but like most fans I am fed up of developing players for other clubs, getting other clubs' players fit, or putting players in the shop window so they can move elsewhere.

Transfermarkt describes him as mainly a defensive midfielder and surely we have enough of those. If anything I thought we'd be targeting an attacking midfielder, rather than a defensive one to provide some support to the strikers.

Im sure thats not his real twitter, I assume someone jumped at the chance to create it after Chopra deleted his account because the links posted on his feed seem to be trojans, virus' etc.. plus just look at the way he responds to people.. he sounds like 14 year old teen..

He is more of a box to box midfielder then in the Hyam / Skuse mould.

ManU fans rate him as hard working, but maybe not quite at the level to break through:

More concerning, is he has an 18month ban for drink driving.

Think we should let this one go to Brighton.

If we want any of the ManU youngsters on loan, it should be Adnan Januzaj.
Creative, pacy attacking midfielder who can play in the centre or on the wing. Needs to toughen up before he is ready for the premiership, and a year on loan in the Championship would suit him, and he would give us a dimension we currently don't have.

Please no more Man Utd under achievers, Martin, Brown. Peterborough normally get first pick anyway.

I can't see the logic in this one unless the Skuse injury is worse than first thought. If not, then we already have Skuse, Hyam, Wordsworth, Tabb that play central midfield. Would like to see another proven winger and a poacher striker to sign.

Us or Brighton no contest he will come to us
I hope we sign him to give us more players because when the season start we will no doubt get players injured so we will need them for cover
Go get him Town

Is this the guy who's dad had a wager that he would make his debut for united by a certain age and got £20000 or something like that ? I know it's irrelevant but just wondering if anyone knows?

Maybe, just maybe MM has an ace up his sleeve? A quality attacking midfielder perhaps?

Looks a bit ginger to me I think we already have cover for that colour.

Thank you Chris makin! Already have hyam, skuse, tabb, Wordsworth and Lawrence to play centre mid. Need more wingers. Why do we always seem to have loads of centre mids?! Still if that's all I can complain about then mick is already one billion times better than the last two managers combined! COYBs!
