The TWTD Banner Vote Thursday, 8th Aug 2013 10:33
TWTD Message Boarders have spent the summer coming up with designs for banners and you can help choose which ones will appear in the Portman Road stands.
There are six designs up for consideration, which you can see below. Vote for your favourite here and once the funding is raised the top two will be manufactured with the club already agreeing that they can be hung in the Sir Alf Ramsey Stand.
The project will cost around £500 is being crowd sourced with all donations gratefully received. For more details and to make a donation, click here.
Textbackup, who instigated the banner plan, told TWTD how the idea came about: “It was purely to show that we're proud of our history and want to see the good times return in the near future. The ideas for the banners came from lots of people on the Message Board with DanTheMan knocking them into shape.”

They all look really good, well done DantheMan - agree it's a bit early for MM but a banner is a great idea. Positve comments please folks! COYB

Why is there no Banner about our unbeaten European Home record? It is incredible. P 31, W25, D6, L0! can we not make that in to a banner? these are all similar, I like B the best though.

I actually think they would all look much better without the club badge on them. Nothing against our badge but if it is going to be permanently at PR I think the current club badge is unneccessary and also doesn't really match 1962, 1978 and 1981 when we were using the coat of arms of the town and the old yellow edged badge. Try looking at the examples above and cover up the badge with your thumb and I think you'll agree it looks better.

@oldbarrackdan You're the first to suggest it! I didn't even think of that. Keep all the ideas coming and I will make a list. Might be we do a second round of voting for the second banner with some new designs.

D. More evocative without words, no need for the pride of Anglia business, those three need no introduction.

Where will they be hung in the Sir Alf Ramsey stand - whatever one is agreed on couldn't it be made to hand at the back of the bottom tier of the Sir Bobby stand in place of those horrendous tarpaulins where for some reason Sheepshanks didn't put us in a bit more debt to finish!

Looks like B is walking it and I'm happy with that, but PLEASE use the other picture of Sir Bobby! If you want him to face inwards then just flip the image!

B for me....like the Trophies and Sir Alf & Sir Bobby.Agree with those that say its too early for Mick.
Immy added 13:51 - Aug 8

B - The proper legends. I feel it's too early for Mick to be in there. But thats just me.

Got to have the trophies and the Pride of Anglia, to push it down the Budgies throat. And there are only 2 managerial legends there. Has to be B.

I'd like to see MM on there. He's quite literally saved us from being in the third tier of English football. Make the man feel wanted here too..

If it is to show our proud history and the future being good I would suggest the trophies with Sir Alf, Sir Bobby, George and Mick but please make it easy to change just in case. Although Mick has not made himself a town legend(YET!!!) I feel to show the future success his face should be on it so C with the addition of the trophies. Oh and a quick note to the people who have said it shouldn't been since 1978 read again its 1878 the year we were founded it was the 100th year of town when we won the FA Cup and also the 100th Final lets hope we don't have to wait for the 200th COYB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

B, trophies are important to our history, but agree the image of Bobby is better on A, so use that on it instead?
TotalBlue added 14:31 - Aug 8
Also on a cheeky note if you can get in the background subtly greyed out "... - ..- ..-. ..-. / -. --- .-. .-- .. -.-. ...." that would be great one for you morse code fans

Defo B for me as the late great Sirs need to be honoured in our great history! It's thanks to them & their great teams that we have a history to be proud of! The other picture of Robson i.e as in A is a better one of him though. Can't add Mick just yet, needs to prove himself a legend at PR,too early for that. Also how about the late, great John Lyall who led us to glory of winning the last ever old 2nd Division title & to join the newly formed Premiership. This was within 2 seasons as manager & as he predicted, whilst playing good attacking football. You could have therefore,Ramsey,Robson,Lyall & Burley. I'm really pleased to see that plans are in place to have great banners up on show at PR & the club have agreed. COYB, ITFC til I die!

People just commenting a vote here , do know this is not where you vote for the banner dont they? just making sure. Anyway I think it needs burley on otherwise we really are living in the past at least burley shows weve had success in the modern era.

Following on from comments, I've updated option B Same style, but Sir Bobby is much more recognisable.
kingy4978 added 16:48 - Aug 8
Maybe they can change the image of Sir Bobby on B with the one on C? To early to have mick on it as yet.
TractorCam added 17:03 - Aug 8
Yes DanTheMan, that looks great, definitely that one has to win!

D or E for me. Did anyone else laugh when Reading sang about their record points haul as being their 'honours'?
