Town Fans Championship's Best Behaved
Wednesday, 9th Oct 2013 18:48

Town were the Championship club to have the fewest fans arrested during 2012/13, according to figures released by the Home Office.

While no Blues supporters were arrested at Portman Road, four were detained at matches away from home, two for alcohol offences, one for public disorder and one for violent disorder. One Town fan was handed a banning order.

In the same report for the previous year, 2011/12, there were two Blues supporters arrested at Portman Road and none away, again the lowest total in the division.

Club spokesman Steve Pearce welcomed this year’s figures: “Ipswich Town fans have a long-standing reputation as being among the best in the game and this is further evidence of that.

“Portman Road is regarded as one of the safest grounds in the country to watch football and the supporters should take great credit for that.”

Happy with these stats - pats on the back to you all (except the not so fab 4 that let us down). Nice to be able to watch a game without silliness ruining it - I'll let the players do that instead.

Not surprising at all considering we dont have any local derbies and average an attendance of about 16,000. Leeds have 3/4 Derbies a season and regualrly get 25,000 + crowds so of course there are going to be more arrests. Coupled with the fact they are dirty Northerners, obviously ;-)

Keep an eye on Yeovil though, coming into the division on good form...
