No New Wolves Deal for Ebanks-Blake
Wednesday, 13th Nov 2013 13:54

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett says he won't be offering Sylvan Ebanks-Blake a new contract at Molineux once the striker is back to full fitness. The 27-year-old, whose Wolves terms were up at the end of June, suffered a broken leg and ankle ligament damage in April and is continuing his recovery from those injuries with his former club.

The one-time Manchester United trainee is now back running but Jackett says he won't come into his plans: “We wouldn’t be looking at a deal for Sylvan," he told the Birmingham Mail.

"I just feel that I don’t particularly want to go back to the former players. It would be nice to bring new, fresh players in."

Town boss Mick McCarthy, who was the manager who took Ebanks-Blake from Plymouth to Wolves for a fee of £1.5 million in January 2008, has been linked with a move for his former player from virtually the moment he took over at Portman Road a year ago.

After the links resurfaced in September, he revealed that the two had talked: “I spoke to Sylvan a few weeks ago to see what he was doing. I rang him up while I was in the car and had nothing else to do, I was driving home.

“He’s waiting until he’s fully fit. He had a really nasty injury and I rang to see how he was doing and to encourage him, that’s all. He’s not coming here.

“I’d love him to, don’t get me wrong. If I could, I would, if he was fit and we could do it, I’d have him here tomorrow. But that’s not the case.”

He added: “Sylvan was a great signing for me. If I could sign him when he’s fit, I would. But let me tell you, the rest of the Championship, the other 23 clubs would be saying exactly the same. And some of the Premier League, I would have thought.”

Meanwhile, we understand that Preston North End are amongst a number of clubs to have approached the Blues regarding Anthony Wordsworth, who Town have made it known is available for loan. However, it's not thought that the Lilywhites are the club the 24-year-old is close to joining.

Keaneish. yes i have ,hes not match fit what good would he do. Also moral of other players ,marriott taylor etc is important. So my considered opinion ,all things considered is we are better off not going for him

bluefeast, i think the problem lies in the fact that you will turn even the most positive into a negative with your spin. So whilst i agree we can all have opinions and how dull it would be if we thought the same way, sometimes its better to have a more 'balanced' outlook on life.

But he would be match fit in a 5 - 8 games right...!? Bit short sited not to sign a quality striker as he can't play straight away! Get him on the same pay-as-you-play deal as Hunt. Get him in as part of the squad so he settles. Give him game time in the reserves and the under-21s. Get him ready for Jan and Feb when others are knackered and we need a new lease of life...

Anyway, look at the poor chap's face in this picture now he knows MM won't sign him. He's gutted! So he would have been interested. And Phil was right to run the story.

.... looks like another ex Molineux incumbent could be heading this way - at this rate we could eventually be as good as Wolves before they were relegated !! ...... think about it.

If we sign Blake we will have one third of a team that was relegated, and the relegated team no longer want them. I am not saying they are not good players, but is there an atteitude problem as seen by Hunts display when he scored.

Bandbox £27k a week was Prem wages & for many those glory days are long gone, what with FFP. If SEB is a real footballer, he will be hungry just to play again, like Hunt.

If he is fit, I for one would love to see him down here, unless he is now tired like Scotland & Reo-Coker were.

If I were you, I would use your energy to get down the bookies & place a tanner on him playing for us this season.

And because he is out of contract means we don't need to wait until January...
