McCarthy: Deal in Progress But No Signing Before Barnsley Thursday, 6th Feb 2014 14:41 Town boss Mick McCarthy says he’s unlikely to add to his squad before Saturday’s game at Oakwell, but revealed that a potential move is currently ongoing. McCarthy doesn’t expect to have made a new addition ahead of his return to his hometown club: “Unlikely and even if we got somebody they can’t do anything until Friday. To bring them in and to be playing is unlikely. “We’ve got one that’s spinning,” he added. “Let’s hope it stays there and doesn’t fall on my head.” McCarthy, who was typically tight-lipped regarding his target's identity, says he’d like to add another player to his midfield options but isn’t in any panic with the likes of Jay Tabb, Stephen Hunt and Anthony Wordsworth impressing him during last week’s 1-0 victory against Bolton. “Bearing in mind that we’ve got so many injuries there it would be handy to have somebody, that’s for sure,” he said. “I hope to get one in, but I’m not unduly worried whether I do or I don’t, to be quite honest, because Tabby and Hunty [were outstanding], and Woody came in and had a good 60 minutes. “I thought Frazer Richardson was excellent as well. I know he was only on for 10 minutes, he’s capable, so we’re all right. If I get somebody, great, if I don’t, the lads are fine.” Meanwhile, Leeds manager Brian McDermott says midfielder Paul Green - the player it's believed McCarthy pulled out of signing prior to the closure of the transfer window - could soon be set for a loan move. From Saturday, Football League clubs are able to sign players on emergency loans of up to 93 days.
