Veseli Keen to Stay at Bury
Thursday, 20th Feb 2014 09:32

Right-back Freddie Veseli says he’s keen to extend his loan with League Two Bury. The 21-year-old’s current spell is due to come to an end after Saturday’s game at AFC Wimbledon.

“I have not spoken to Ipswich yet, so I need to speak to the manager between now and Saturday to see what he wants me to do,” Veseli told the Bury Times.

“Obviously I want to speak with the gaffer here because he has got a say as well on whether he wants to keep me or not. But I would like to stay if everything will be all right.

“Not only am I enjoying my time with the players and the staff, but I also think I am learning a lot about a different side of the game I wasn’t used to before.

“It’s good when you have got the confidence of your team-mates and obviously the manager. You learn new things and take them into the game and see they can work.

“So, overall, it’s a good situation for me right now because I feel like I am learning and enjoying myself as well.”

He says he has no plans to move to Gigg Lane permanently: “It’s about getting the experience and then getting back to Ipswich and higher, to be fair, because I already dropped from Manchester United to Ipswich thinking I would get some games.

“So for me, coming to Bury has been about getting some games and also getting my confidence back after my injury, which was quite bad.”

The Swiss U21 international, who has been linked with an international call-up by Kosovo, suffered a serious hamstring injury while at Old Trafford last season.

He has made six appearances for the Shakers since joining them at the start of January with several of their games having been postponed.

Meanwhile, Elliott Hewitt was missing from the Gillingham 18 as the Gills lost 1-0 at home to Sheffield United last night. The 19-year-old was back from a one-match ban after his recent red card against Stevenage.

Had big hopes for this lad as he was with both City and United, just hope this loan spell will be just what he needs to push for the first team.

Funny how Nouble loads of stick for getting out there and trying yet Veseli get none and its goes to wonder why United and City let him go.

Obviously sees us as a stepping stone to bigger things, if he can prove himself good enough

I don't think you chose to drop from Man U to ipswich to get some games - I think Man U chose to let you go.
