Flitcroft Keen to Keep Improving Veseli
Sunday, 23rd Feb 2014 09:02

Right-back Freddie Veseli looks set to stay with League Two Bury for another month with Shakers’ manager David Flitcroft keen to keep the 21-year-old at Gigg Lane. The Swiss U21 international’s second month on loan with Bury ended after yesterday’s 1-0 win at AFC Wimbledon.

“If I can take him for another month I think it will help Freddie and it will certainly help us,” Flitcroft told the Bury Times.

“Freddie wants to do it, there’s no doubt about that. We will speak with Ipswich and Mick and try to get it nailed on for Tuesday.”

Speaking on Thursday, McCarthy said he would be happy for the former Manchester United and Manchester City youngster to continue his spell with the Shakers: “It’s up to David Flitcroft. If he wants to keep him then, yes, of course, but I’ve not had that discussion.

“Unless someone else wants to take him because he’s only got another month. He can stay [at Bury] for another 33 days or whatever it is. Yes, he can stay.”

Flitcroft says Veseli has improved the more matches he has played: “Over the last month he has got better and better, there is no doubt about that.

“The first two or three games he was a fish out of water but now the lads love having him in the squad and he loves being part of this. He knows he can improve under our guidance, he’s a real learner.”

All youngsters need to get experience somewhere, its a pity Freddy is only getting first team experience now. He must have good potential if City and United had him on their books.

He is also getting the confidence a footballer needs. Dave Flitcroft seems to be a good man manager, lets hope Freddy stays at Bury for a while yet.
