Town to Give Away 12,000 Tickets
Friday, 28th Feb 2014 15:28

Town are to give away 12,000 tickets to local youngsters as part of a promotion campaign at this season’s remaining home games.

Fans who buy a matchday ticket for Saturday’s match against Birmingham can save £5 on a ticket for Wigan’s visit to Portman Road on Saturday 15th March.

Season ticket holders and Silver Club members can buy four match tickets at reduced prices for the Derby game on Tuesday 25th March with adult prices at £10, concessions £8 and juniors £3.

On April 12th, when Doncaster visit, for the first time Town will be offering around 12,000 free tickets to youngsters in the region.

Easter Monday, when AFC Bournemouth are in Suffolk, will see Town stage a Family Day with reduced ticket prices and activities going on around the ground.

When Sheffield Wednesday are at Portman Road on the final day of the season, Saturday 3rd May, entry for under-16s will be £1.

Great to see. We need to secure the next generation of supporters.

Let's hope for some great performances on the pitch that make them think that they want to see more.

Well done to the club - I think this is well above and beyond what anyone was expecting! Really shows Marcus' long term vision for the club - short term losses, for a potential long term gain of a new generation of Town fans!

Now lets really try and get behind these promotions and bring along friends and family!

Always nice to see "Town" and "promotion campaign" in the same sentence...

:)

In all seriousness though, this is what the club needs to do more often. And preferably do it earlier in the campaign as well, given that we want to be bringing the fans in for the whole season rather than just the run-in.

Instead of doing this just to get the gates up why not permently lower the ticket pricing

Lowering matchday ticket prices across the board is the only long-term solution.

at the end of the day the club is not really giving away anything as those seats will probably remain unoccupied but this makes sense as mentioned trying to secure a new generation of younger supporters plus getting more atmosphere into the stadium. Good move.

This is great idea, but overall we need to lower the match day prices. I have a season ticket which I believe are priced ok but for a match day ticket my mates are staying away as they can't afford 35 pounds just for the ticket.

All good but match day tickets have to be reduced, match day loading has to go and tickets have to be easily available to everyone not just those who can work a laptop

I used to live in West London and the schools were constantly getting free tickets to QPR games. All my son's friends are now QPR fans - simple....
