Nouble: A Lot More to Come Friday, 7th Mar 2014 06:00 Frank Nouble is keen to remind Town fans that he is only 22 and striving hard to improve as a player. The big striker finally feels settled at Portman Road after his time at Chelsea and West Ham, as well as loan stints with Swindon, Swansea, Barnsley (twice), Charlton and Gillingham, before joining Wolves, from whom he joined Ipswich in January last year. Nouble said: “I feel there’s a lot more to come from me. I think people see me as being 26 or 27 but I’m only 22 and I’m still working at my game. I am working hard every single day so it will come. “It’s probably the fact that I’ve been at a lot of clubs that makes people think of me being older but I was only on loan at some of them. I’ve made over 100 first team appearances, be it starts or subs, but I’m still learning the game and I’ve not really had a full year of football. “Most of my team-mates have a lot more experience in terms of playing games. I just hope I can be here for a few years and do well. You can see the benefit of getting a decent run in the side and now the challenge is to stay in there for as long as possible. “I do a lot of work on my game in training but it’s all about doing it in the actual games. With playing more regularly I have learned a lot this season. If you can see you are making progress it is a good thing. “Terry Connor is a really good coach and I have nothing bad to say about him. He’s done really well for all of us, always encouraging and trying to make us better.” Nouble has netted three times in his 33 appearances, 17 of which have been as a substitute, and would like nothing more than to add to his tally for the season. He added: “I always want to score and I would never say anything else but the way we play we need to work hard, first and foremost, and then after that the rewards will come. “Whether it’s been David McGoldrick, Daryl Murphy or whoever scoring the bulk of the goals, the others have been chipping in as well with the odd goal or an assist. “I tend to play wide most of the time and in that role I’m more of a provider. I’m working on every single aspect of my game and if I continue to apply myself things will start dropping for me. “Maybe the ball will just come off my knee or something like that, and fly into the net, but the important thing is to get in the right positions.” Nouble was the architect of Town’s match-winning goal against Birmingham City last week, crossing low towards the far post where Daryl Murphy found the net from close range. He said: “It was a well-worked goal because Tayls started the move with a pass to me. At the time you don’t realise how good the link-up play was — you’re only thinking about getting the goal and winning the game. “I thought we played well and I was pleased with the assist, which is just like a goal for me, and to win the game.”
